democracynow.org - We continue our interview with journalist and author Jaime Lowe about her remarkable memoir, Mental: Lithium, Love, and Losing My Mind. She shares and investigates her experience with mental illness and the drugs used to combat it. She was on lithium for two decades but was forced to go off it when she experienced serious kidney problems as a result of the medication. Lowe notes mental illness is still associated with social stigma despite affecting tens of millions of Americans.

Thank you for this interview...I am 61 Canadian woman and I have suffered from BP all my life. These type of information has helped me acknowledge and accept my own mental health. It is these stories that have helped me learning how to watch for triggers. Thank you so much...

I agree with others below. Her family’s sacrifice is incredible and it’s something a lot of us out there never had. It’s amazing they coordinated being there for her. I hope she realizes how lucky she is.

What an effective way to build a narrative! I have no idea why this is being discussed or where it is going to go. Is this a criticism of health care? Is it meant to increase understanding and acceptance of mental illness? Is it simply an interview with a journalist and author? Without being fed a conclusion, I'm thinking more about what all of this means and the best way to address this.

Actually spontaneous ART and POETRY can be amazing, that is one of the secrets. Sure people can feel more about art based on how they feel personally, but that is always how it is.

Thanks i liked this. As a First Nations/Indegenous person with bipolar/manic depression, I suffered greatly for years... I found no help from the medication, or the eurocentric psych specialists. I followed the ancient teachings of the medicine wheel, and i've made so much progress. I found it to be a spiritual disease. I felt at my most deepest level that i had no belonging and connection to the people, cultures, and environment i was surrounded by. Western philosophy will never be able to deal or even understand these problems because there is such a tremendous disconnection from self and being. Western people are not begins, as much as they are doings. Our identities are so much more related to our occupation, and our participation in the marketplace, instead of being an animal who is dependent on the sustenance and respecting the interconnected relationship to all other life, and the natural environment. Follow the medicine wheel. Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, and Mental self must be in balance. Western Philosophy is so imbalanced, its becoming psychotic to the core. Its a problem when a person gets ill. its a great tragedy when entire cultures become ill.

So everything "Western" is evil, got it. It must be nice to be completely superior to everyone and have life completely figured out.

more eurocentric bs. Thanks for that. your worldview is exactley my point. You know you're evil, but you have made every excuse imaginable to try and explain/justify it. Just becoming more lost and more sick all around. Its not evil. its imbalance, and ignorance.

You lie and manipulate truth so much you cant see straight bud. doesnt take a genius to diagnose such obvious illness/imbalance.

All of us who are mentally and emotionally broken, and not getting better, should just end it, if only to improve the lives of those we love, how fair or even acceptable is it that we cause the pain we cause?! I'd rather be dead:(

Is this the same Jamie screaming like a banshee at the police in Oswego Oregon? There are several videos in 2020, 2021 of a woman named Jamie Lowe who has filmed herself screaming , verbally abusing police, disruptive behavior, selling her meds ..is this her?

clearly you don't have any training or experience in radio frequencies, because no, they wouldn't cause anything like this.

Who said radio frequencies? I'm taling military weapons, and they referred to their own weapons as dew, directed energy weapons, and ultra high frequency, ect. Go look into their projects. The lesser ones make you feel like your cooking. That is what peoples testimony is of their non-lethal active denial system. Don't waste time talking about my education. What does their material say? What's their explanation to their technology,? Go look it up for your self. They are frequency weapons. What frequencies? Go read it. Then say something.
