That’s great man! I don’t recall liking it that much, but I loved the idea of symbol power and wish they had dove into that more. I love that you mentioned the mental health aspect of it because I never really thought about that before (at least when I was first watching it) but since I’ve dealt with depression & anxiety most of my life, it makes me want to rewatch the show and look for those aspects. It would have been cool to have them address them more directly and help the rangers work through some of those issues but I know that conflicts with the young target audience. Hope the open house went well! There are some more direct signs in the show. Like Kevin goes around telling everyone they are doing great and if they need anything he's there for them. That to me is another sign. From experience I was always asking people if they were okay. Sort of hoping someone would ask me back. I think its an interesting thought about the season.

I tend to take care of a lot of other people, but can sometimes neglect myself and my own needs. and I’m sure (if Kevin is anything like me) he was wanting to help people to try and feel like he could help himself. Yeah, it definitely puts a different spin on the story of the Samurai rangers. It really is odd that they didn’t have a collection of previous Nighlock and their weaknesses, especially since so many generations had fought against them. I wonder if at any point they resented the life they were born into? That could have been an interesting story point

I think one of the biggest things about samurai is what you say at the beginning "Sentai and power rangers aren't the same" but purchase to broadcast was like 8 months. They didn't make a script they just 1:1 the shinkenger episodes but due to the episode count they missed out on a lot and didn't actually ADAPT certain plot points in a functional way. Also samurai didn't know how to let things just happen. There needed to always be talking even when a quiet moment would've been better.

I hear what you are saying. The constant talking is the younger demographic issue. Saban feels there needs to be constant explaining so kids can fallow along. I would love to see a version of episodes where they leave out the filler voice overs, and just let the image speak for itself.

Mental health is very important and you really nailed it. This team suffered because it was too much expectation to handle. Power rangers as a whole has lazy writing. They could’ve taken this so far with just a little more imagination

@@mightymorphinconspiracythe5024 the first day of the con Skyler and his band were one of the events of the venue that I stumbled into and honestly it was super low energy and the music felt very.... Idk pompous and ego driven? Idk how to honestly explain it but the whole thing was mildly cringe and people were bailing. But a mildly drunk hector came out from behind the curtains and took a mic and started praising the audience and fans for supporting them and the show which garnered a lot of cheering so he did a little ranger rap and basically stole the show. Obviously between stealing the show and bruising Skyler's ego it led to some drama afterwards

Wonder if that was due to some ego on his end, and maybe they felt a bit threatened by his experience. He didn't seem to be involved in a lot of the interviews and stuff.

@@mightymorphinconspiracythe5024 I can't say for certain as I only witnessed that mini concert and the fallout that happened a little later in the night but from my personal perspective he definitely seemed to have a larger ego than I feel was deserved. To me at least it really felt like he only went to the con to promote his band and when someone not only reenergized the crowd but also came off as being far more humble about it, that's when he started looking mad. From my understanding there was an altercation later on that got them both temporarily banned from returning the next day as well. Maybe him having prior work on a national level compared to the rest also gave him somewhat of a superiority complex too? Unsure but the rest of them seemed pretty down to earth at the same con. While I kinda hate Kevin as a character, Najee was there with his mom and that was honestly really adorable to see .

i love Lauren Shiba as the red samurai ranger. it really Irks me how the whole team blows her off when all she was trying to do was connect with them, and be the best leader she can be. nut no, they all had to cry of Jayden because...reasons? it didn't make any sense. if i ever got to make a power ranger series, i would for sure have a crossover episode that brought her in and showcased how badass she is.

it's all good and well, but i think the real problem with Samurai is that it's almost one-to-one adaptation from Shinkenger with some weird changes. Like the Red Rangers attitude in one of the earlier episode where the yellow ranger was severely damage alongside the other. Shinken Red says, "Leave her be" basically saying that if she died, it's on her. This shows the distance between Takeru and the rest and would be a significant change in the later when he is very concerned for the yellow ranger's safety after they fight side by side with each other and get to know with each other. It also starts Shinken Green hate towards Takeru because he didn't think Takeru value any of their live. On the other hand, the Red Samurai told the pink to stay with the yellow and that he needs to safe a child. It's not only different on how he treated the other, but also him announcing what he is going to do. In Shinkenger, Takeru didn't say a thing to the other than about the weak yellow, not communicating anything he wants to do or he wants the other to do, basically he didn't really want anyone to be there to begin with. The other knows later that Takeru was like this because his dedication to protecting the civilians by risking his injured self to safe a child that hinders his fighting capability. There is also the female red ranger problem. The Red Samurai leaving the team is weird, she only comes to seal the enemy and he is still the rightful heir to the clan since it's a monarchy. In Shinkenger, Takeru have to leave the team because the real Shinken Red, the 18th Generation Leader of Shiba Clan have comes out of her hiding and is going to take her rightful position as the team's leader. Takeru was a nobody, a fake, a replacable piece that need to step aside when the real fight begins. Takeru was never a Shiba, he lied to the other's face to put their live on a liar who they're not supposed to follow and served. Another thing is in the first episode, when the other were summoned. In Shinkenger, the blue ranger is in the middle of a family performance and he hesitate, he clearly didn't want to leave, but his father told him to and he obeys his father to go on battle. Where in samurai, the blue ranger goes with a smile, clearly is waiting to put his live on the line in a battle. Now, this doesn't automatically make his character bad, but it lack the depth in those first scenes when compared with Shinkenger. There is also the weird black box episodes where Samurai split it to two separate episode and the cut between original and sentai footage were very clear in a lot of places. Also, a lot of the thing you seemed to like about Samurai were from Shinkenger. The yellow being immuned to insult, the green having a great bond with the yellow and is willing to fall to darkness to save her, the gold's role in black box and making his own power and suit, etc. Example of weird footage cut : Super Samurai Episode 01, Jayden went from exhausted and injured to standing completely fine. In Shinkenger this is fine because Takeru just came with the Gold Ranger, probably with Kurokos' help and have some resting time in their way to the battlefield The problem with Samurai because Power Ranger is supposed to be an adaptation, not dub of the sentai. I think, about 90% of Samurai is just Shinkenger but with another civilian face. There is a lot wrong about the show, the rough edit to fight scene and some decision about the story is very weird and takes a lot from the original without changing the basic plot of each episodes. It's becoming more of a problem when you have the context of what Shinkenger did and which scenes are from Shinkenger, so you could see the obvious cut between the two footage.

Samurai was great. Sure people in the hardcore community tend to hate on it but there are literally Instagram videos with almost a million likes dedicated to Jayden Shiba alone. Over 600k likes just for Jayden. Power ranger fans barley show out like that for Any other season. Not to mention the crazy love I see for the season all across the internet, I don't get how people think the majority of people dislike samurai when I'm seeing millions say it was great 😂 but hey that's the pr fandom these days. My dislike for this season doesn’t really have much to do with the sentai because I’ve never really watched the sentai it’s just that I don’t like the fact that this season was trying to be so much like the original I really want to see Power Rangers continue to be more dark and serious like what we had gotten with RPM but unfortunately Saban wanted to make every single season in the neo Saban era like mighty morphin which pretty much that was where the beginning of the dependency of the nostalgia of mighty Morphin began with those seasons that was one of the things that made me not enjoy the seasons very much and why I am not really much of a fan of them to this day The only one that I somewhat enjoyed was Dino charge I wasn’t too big on super Dino charge I also didn’t really care too much for ninja steel the only thing that really interest me about ninja steel was the pink ranger lol and the team up special that was about it but yeah I did not enjoy samurai Nothing against the actors because I know they were just doing their job and what they were told to do but the writing of the season was just not that great.

It's a divided opinion. So many people just worship MMPR and a lot enjoyed the Disney Era. So it just depends on what you like more. The only opinions I get annoyed with are the diehard MMPR fans that say samurai sucks... its very much the same feel

i definitely watch this season when it aired and this season imo its not a bad power rangers season if you havent seen the sentai counterpart, shinkenger, but what i grew to love about power rangers is when they took the sentai and made it a completely different show and not simply the sentai but with american actors. Bulk and spike i definitely didnt mind in the season but them not really interacting with the rangers just felt like that you could just skip their seasons and lose nothing. It took them until the second half of super samurai to make them interact with the rangers. The ranger cast were perfectly fine they werent the worst but accept for antonio, kevin and lauren, they were pretty much their american versions of their sentai counterpart. It's definitely not my least favorite season of PR but it is just a season i dont like rewatching except for antonio's debut.

No I hear you. I think that is more a marketing issue. Shout Factory was a company who put out old pr seasons on DVD. I think Saban started breaking seasons into individual packs so you'd have to buy a bunch of dvds to get every episode. Once the season ended I dont think he allowed any other company to produce the seasons. So its in scarces supply unfortunately. But at least it's on youtube now

Power Rangers Samurai was ok but honestly it’s biggest flaw is that it is NOT an adaptation it’s a translation of the Sentai with a few modifications. They needed to do more of their own thing with this. While Mia’s last name is a call back to Cam, it’s actually a mistake. Watanabi is The Ninja Storm Sensai’s last name that’s why it’s Cam’s last name. His Samurai power comes from His MOTHER and her family. Please watch the entrance story for Cam as the Green Samurai Ranger. It is clearly shown where that power comes from.

Comparing Power Rangers to Sentai starts to nitpick power rangers and people don't just watch it to enjoy it. They want to compare and pick what parts of sentai they want to be put into power rangers. And when it does adapt something the way they want. Or it doesn't copy it as well, people don't take it for what it is. It's a comparing game that I don't like getting into. The blue ranger isn't as good in samurai as the sentai. But they might have differences even if it's a close adaptation

even though i don't liked samurai that much i actually kind of agree samurai is a little overhated. I liked everything about Antonio and Lauren and think Kevin is overhated for looking as a bad friend but not a good teammate. Don't get me wrong kevin was a dick to antonio in the beginning but he got along better with his teammates as was the most loyal to Lauren, not simping to Jayden trying to find him like everyone else. And when Antonio had Ptsd being trapped in a fish's body he was willing to eat Mia's bad cooking to help him faced his fear. Or when terry came to town he was practicing dancing with mike before they went to the concert. Also he pretty useful in the battlefield everyone thought he was a better swordsman than in episode 9 " i've got a spell on blue" while training. Deker even said Kevin fighting for a training point not a real duel so he not trying but whopping his ass. Jayden said because youre such a good fighter it a lot longer to break the spell. Antonio was said training and more training watching him. he helped Jayden train for his final battle vs deker in season 1 and finally took out him out unmorphed but Jayden couldn't do that in super mode. Also he figure out the megazord combinations.

I think for a lot of people the NeoSaban Era only got one watch through. It leaves a lot of assumptions from vivid memories of the season alive. But after watching it closer you see the humanity in this team more and more. And yes the rangers do compliment Kevin on his sword technic.

​I am not gonna lie a lot of the neo saban episodes like in Megaforce i don't hate the characters but I hate the lack of development for them and the story not intriguing other then beating the bad guy. In additionally i forget i think Jayden is a terrible red ranger for his leadership and lack of common sense. Bro thought he could win this war when his dad died in battle. He left his team and house when they knew about the seal for protecting him. Like i get they were endangering themselves but without Jayden there no megazord, he keep fighting Xandred and Deker and still get hurt making him vulnerable. Also leaving his sister makes no sense when he could have helped cover her for the symbol, let her be bait for Deker to draw him out and in general be extra fire power in battle. Also he's worshipped as this good leader when he's the most reckless and i think Kevin could lead better sometimes think of plans cover for Jayden. Although his contribution in ep 10 forest for the trees was great.

Samurai, for me, is like a full course dinner but the main dish tastes bad. Characters, costumes, villains, action scenes, it’s all at least decent. But the writing, editing, and a majority of the acting really turned me off from the show.

Samurai’s entires production was rushed it took 6 months to finish When you said power rangers and sentai aren’t the same samurai literally copy’s shinkenger beat for beat but a more bland version of the source material hell even some of the dialogue is from eng sub titles from shinkenger

I understand that, the issue is when people are rooting for pr to be bad because they watched the sentai first. It can cripple any ranger season. Yes this season is a big copy but a lot of seasons people tend to judge unfairly because they like the sentai. Instead they have to seperate the two and watch pr for what it is
