In this video it is Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United at home at Hillsborough in the 2023/24 EFL Championship season on a cold Friday night Promotion/Relegation clash!
Wednesday went into this game off the back of another win against Plymouth at home midweek, making it 4 wins in a row - some great form!
However, Leeds came into this game on even better form, not losing in absolutely ages and winning the majority of their games this year, coupled with their huge team, it was always going to be tricky for Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday actually started well against Leeds United and had the much better of the chances in the first half an hour, and in fact almost scoring through Djedi Gassama, but unfortunately for the Owls, it was Leeds United that broke the deadlock literally on the verge of half time when the ball was whipped in and Patrick Bamford was waiting at the back post to put the ball into the back of the net to send the Leeds fans crazy and put the away side 1 goal ahead, Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Leeds United!
And that was the half seen as the goal fell literally just before half time Wednesday went into the break a goal down against Yorkshire rivals Leeds, half time scoring being HT Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Leeds United!
Coming out for the second half, Wednesday seemed slower and worse overall to be honest, it seemed the goal was quite deflating, and before we knew it Leeds doubled their lead through Willy Gnoto, he was played in and finished the chance 1v1 against James Beadle, again sending the Leeds fans crazy right in front of their end and Gnoto went to celebrate with the travelling supporters, some good limbs on display too, Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Leeds United!
and despite all 5 substitutions being made for the Owls, it wasn't enough to grab even a goal in this game and Leeds managed to see out the remainder of the game with a 2 goal advantage, the final score at the end of the game being at full time, FT Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Leeds United!
Unfortunate for the Owls today, maybe with Poveda we could have been more creative and made more chances but with the Leeds squad we were up against I feel it was always going to be hard to get something, anyways we move on to Ipswich Town away next weekend!

Officials giving us everything, like offside goals that aren’t offside at all. You even saw it on the screen immediately after and still moaned 😂. Play a high line against a team with pace and that’s what you are going to get.

The only thing you got right is that you are a salty Wednesday fan. Love the fact you complained, sorry moaned, about the 1st goal being scored 12 seconds after the MINIMUM 4 minutes first half injury time, when the Wednesday keeper took about a minute to take a goal kick in injury time, oh the irony. Gnontto was absolutely miles onside absolutely miles on side. The linesman didn't put up his flag because he was onside. Having said that, hope you can beat Ipswch. BTW your keeper kept the score respectable.

You need to appreciate that added time is announced as “a minimum of” and the goal at the end of the first half was 12 seconds after.

Yeah I know its just we intercepted the ball then got it right back just after it ticked over the 4th minute, but it was Palmer’s fault in the end for not being able to keep the ball

Ben, it’s admirable that you are able to concede the point, at least Wednesday are having a real go and trying to pick up victories. I’d rather you avoid the drop, especially if you sign Poveda on a permanent contract, he just might be the difference between staying up and getting relegated.

He really was the difference on Friday, don’t get me wrong we still would have lost but we would have been a lot more in the game, he brings creativity that no one else can, if we stays in the team still the end of the season we should stay up, just hope we can get him permanently next season if we are still here!

Literally none of the offsides you are (relentlessly) moaning about were actual offsides. The officials actually did a very good job and yet you're blaming them. You have a high offside trap, we sussed it out and beat it several times. That's not the fault of the officials who got every single offside decision correct.

We have to thank Leeds for Povada. The fact that he is one of our best players and he didn't make the cut with them does rather show the difference in class. We have done well to take a point off Leicester and a point off Leeds this season. Hopefully, we can take a point or more off Ipswich in the next game.

Yeah it will be really close! Hoping once we get through this tough patch we can go back to winning games, despite ipswich next week out of the other teams around us we actually have quite a favourable run so hopefully that can help us stay up!

I never winged about the time wasting if you listened carefully you would have noticed that I said I rate it and you were professionals at it, we got outclassed today. Frankly i am sick of replying to comments about the offside complains because simply unlike a lot of people in these comments i didnt have the beauty of sky replays, so at the game they all looked off to me but when we play a high line like that every ball behind looks off, leeds deserved to win and thats fair enough so we did get what we deserved, just thought id correct you here
