My daughter had mental math last week. I couldn’t for the life of me comprehend and break this down for her. I even had a group of coworkers try to help me comprehend. We were all puzzled. It still feels like a bit much.

It can be daunting. But, it's valuable! For K through 3rd grade, you can use 1 and 2 digit numbers to practice, like 9 + 9, 9 + 8, 19 + 6, etc. For 4th grade and above, you can practice with 2 and 3 digit numbers like 29 + 6, 299 + 99, etc. Let me know if you get stuck and need guidance. :-)

@jasmineshank1830 She broke it down very good. If you and your co workers "for the life of you" cant comprehend that 19 + 6 could be thought of us 20 + 5.. you guys may need some serious help.

@@monstersquad13SHE broke it down perfectly and I understood from her explanation. I followed my comment with it still seems like a bit much because it’s a lot for a child. You didn’t even have to respond here because I didn’t ask you. I was given a sheet of paper with no explanation of how to explain it to my daughter so of course me and my coworkers were clueless. We didn’t do mental math as kids. But then again, you are here as well… you must need help too.
