He wrote about a society that secretly despises big brother, not predicting the eventual society that for the most part loves their big brother and pretends the oppression isn't happening while looking the other way at mass incarceration, the erosion of rights and etc. He didn't predict a cancel culture that would be heavily pro-censorship, pro-socialism, anti-Bill of Rights. He didn't predict a society that would be far more worried, paranoid even, that society and the government isn't watching them than the concern over the surveillance state.

I just love how so many people find it appropriate to comment that our world is slowly becoming what's depicted in books like 1984, or even better, that it already became such a thing. Aww man, this track would be PERFECT for the introduction to either the next Deus Ex installment or the next Judge Dredd movie. 2:05 as soon as the 1984 monologue ends and the beat drops, cut strait to the literal Boot of a futuristic riot officer stomping on a protesters neck while panning out revealing a futuristic dark alley environment full of riot officers and police cars arresting and harassing a bunch of protesters and homeless people.
