When treating a fascial space infection due to odontogenic origin do you remove the tooth immediately or do you incise and drain the infection and then wait to remove the tooth or do you give antibiotics and wait before removing the tooth?

Hey Dr. Ryan, I have a question: If a patient has a fascial space infection that turns into cellulitis, is it best to take a pano or a PA?
@mentaldental
@mentaldental 2 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question! For facial cellulitis, I would actually opt for either a CBCT or MRI to best visualize the extent of soft tissue infection.

Facial cellulitis is a diffuse infection involving the deep layers of facial skin. It can have an odontogenic origin (particularly in kids), but it more often has an extraoral origin like an infected cut or scratch.
