Forget golf advice, this is the best life advice out there. Great stuff

In sport psychology we sometimes call that "fake it til you make it." The brain reacts to feedback from the body as much as the body responds to the brain. Walk tall, chest high, eyes up, work like hell and self-confidence will follow.

Thank you. I needed to hear this. I've fallen short many times in qualifiers because I didn't believe I was as good as the other players there. That I was destined to come up short before I stuck a tee in the ground.

#2 - This is spot on GG. You want to be the best, plain and simple, have the swagger you are. You have to be an impenetrable fortress against the naysayers and when things go sideways. Play to your strengths, never settle, own it.

Secondly GG - another way for us to become the best is for you to get that teaching website up so we can WORK. WITH. THE. BEST.

Studies show that when a person "walks like the man" that it actually has an impact upon their body's chemistry, it boost a person's serotonin levels. Other people will actually treat you based upon how you present yourself as well. So how you handle your physical nature impacts your chemistry and your neurological state. The ultimate goal of learning mental performance skills is to create the suitable atmosphere for a person to get "in the zone". It does not guarantee that a person will get into "the zone" but it creates the right atmosphere for it to occur. Tom Watson refers to this as "patiently waiting." These are skills that are learned and need to be practiced, setting appropriate expectations for your game, controlling thought patterns "CBT" (cognitive behavioral therapy), managing your energy levels while playing (physical and mental), visualization and moving smoothly from you think box to your play box to your memory box. If you learn proper golf skills, practice them, and implement mental skills you'll greatly improve. I'm a professional psychotherapist (Lic. #889) for 20 years and a student of this great game we all love.

I agree, but it’s not just in public, you need to believe in yourself even when behind closed doors. A can do positive attitude, coupled with a good work ethic & this “I’m the best persona,” will take any athlete and/or person, to the next level.

This is so true. If I show up to the course looking, feeling and acting like a bad mf’er (without being cocky), I wreck the course! Thanks G!

Great message, more relevant for some than others. BUT, I think you should make a clear distinction between setting up unrealistic expectations/being delusional and developing a more neutral inner confidence (which will naturally manifest itself externally). Many viewers, kids in particular, thinking that in order to be confident they must expect nothing but the absolute best, are likely to go towards the former. When these expectations are confronted with the finality of a golf score, it's easy to become discouraged EVEN IF they are actually improving. On a longer timeframe, misinterpreting your message may lead to more serious psychological torment, when a mini-tour player doubts their entire being after years of unchecked grandeur clashes with the fact that they can barely find their name on OWGR. Again, you've definitely passed a crucial message here. Just might need a little more nuance, as it can easily be misinterpreted.

I will be touching on managing expectations and turning off the ego in the next couple episodes. All great points you made. Thanks for the feedback.

A friend just recently told me to check out your instruction, so I’m just learning about you. I have to say that one thing I notice you do when watching your swing is similar to many other instructors in that the feeling you are explaining about pivoting in your turn through the ball is not what I see when I watch your swing in slow motion. I see a somewhat conventional rotation of your left hip as you come into impact, performing it very well as most high quality pros execute. Please let me know what I’m missing? I guess if the instruction and drills you teach help someone to have that “feel”, then that’s fine, so I’m not trying to be critical, just trying to understand the difference

Superficial behaviors or actions do not lead to inner confidence... acting confident is not the same as possessing inner confidence. Inner confidence is undeterred let superficial actions are just that - meaningless...you can only tell* a golfer to be or act like etc for so long until they make a mistake or screw up..you will then see if that confidence is real or bs.... don't forget to give me a shout out with these pointers...
