WTF is Marvel DOING with Avengers Doomsday??

There are so many actors out there, and yet they cast RDJ as Doctor Doom?! The fact people are more interested in Spider-Man seeing Doctor Doom's face than him interacting with Reed Richards, just tells you how miscast he is. Then again based on all the rumors, it doesn't even sound like they are going to adapt Doctor Doom faithfully. We have been waiting years for a good Doctor Doom, and it seems like the MCU is just using his name for hype instead of actually caring about adapting the character properly.

Saw the test footage for Fantastic Four First Steps and thought, this might be it. This might really be the Fantastic Four adaptation I've been waiting for. Then heard the RDJ casting and rumors that they're gonna be downplaying the Doom/Reed relationship and honestly I might not see Doomsday in theaters. I'm just disappointed. I would've been okay if they just recasted Kang and established that the kangs previously seen were just offshoots of one specific Kang variant who feared running into the TRUE Kang the conqorer. Honestly the only way I can see RDJ being Doom work is if he was a Doombot made by the real Doom as a red herring and the real Doom is played by someone else. In the comics, Doom always had a tendency to put one of his Doombots in his place when he needed to observe the situation from afar or needed a getaway and in the case of RDJ, having a Doombot with the face of Tony Stark to tarnish his legacy and to give the Avengers the biggest fuck you ever is very in character of Doom.

From what I heard from another KZbinr called "LewisFilms" he was reading the original plans for Spider-Man 4 and it says this, "Initially, Marvel Studios wanted to develop a street level story for this upcoming installment of Spider-Man, having him team up with Daredevil to take on Wilson Fisk following the events of Daredevil: Born Again. Multiple villains from Spider-Man's lore were also in consideration for the plot of this film. I think what hurts the most about this upcoming lineup, is that all of this is to setup the x-men, when they could just make an x-men movie now. I dont even like x-men but if i was an x-fan, I could honestly care less for an explanation as to where mutants have been during the infinity saga. I'd actually like to see a story in which the x-men exist in a world that doesn't hate them, or a story where mutants have always existed but Prof X erased everyone's minds about their existence. Mostly agreed, however I never cared for Mar-Vell so I'm happy to have Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel. All I would change is have Mar-Vell be Captain Marvel before her, and have her start off as Ms. Marvel before she becomes Captain Marvel (if only because I liked the leotard she wore as Ms. Marvel). This is important since Rogue accidentally put her into a coma while she was Ms. Marvel. I also don't mind Namor being Mayan, but his kingdom should be called Atlantis. To add to this list, I want Wolverine's history with Alpha Flight prior to joining the X-Men to be mentioned. As for Spider-Man, I want his friendship with the Fantastic Four to be established (especially with the Human Torch), as well as with other heroes like Daredevil, Deadpool, the Hulk, and Wolverine. Additionally, Spider-Man should not be that close to Iron Man. They don't get along well. I also want all of Peter's love interests to be adapted: Betty Brant, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane (as in the actual MJ, she's a redhead party girl), Felicia Hardy, and more. Spider-Man 4 would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce Black Cat, but it seems the MCU is run by idiots. Thor should have grand Shakespearean speeches and Jane Foster should be a nurse, not a scientist. Bruce Banner's multiple Hulks should be adapted, and the Savage Hulk needs to be the rampaging unstoppable force feared by friends and foes alike. Bruce grew up with an abusive father and that has caused him to develop issues which still persist into late adulthood. This needs to be adapted. It would also be cool to see Gwenpool, however I don't think it would be possible to adapt her since the comic book medium is a major part of her character. If anyone ever does figure out how to adapt her for film and TV, I'd be happy to see her. The most important thing is that her costume is a leotard. I hate how some people try to cover it up with shorts. She does not wear shorts! Her tailor was very clear about there being no pants! Her legs and butt are important! If there's going to be a Gwenpool, they need to get the costume right. It's also important to adapt Batroc the Leaper based on how he was depicted in the Unbelievable Gwenpool. We should have Squirrel Girl too. I honestly can't believe the MCU doesn't have a Squirrel Girl yet.

They can’t make a decent Fantastic Four movie, but now they’re doing a Dr. Doom Avengers type of film. You know with a guy who when he actually dies could have, here lies The Iron Man RDJ on his headstone, much like The Wolverine and Hugh Jackman. Marvel is just clutching at straws and trying to save the MCU. If they actually put out a great story, have solid character development, pacing while trying to be a little different and having the added benefit of care for source material with decent acting they’d be fine. Until they can do that they’re not going to succeed. People like Scarlett, RDJ and Evans have said they were done with superhero movies. You throw enough money at someone and they’ll eventually change their mind. I’d like believe that some actors prefer to look over the film’s writing and character before agreeing to it. I think RDJ is one of those, but who really knows? That’s just me and to each their own. Personally I could take a little break from superhero films. However that being said I am a big Dr. Doom fan. I’ve always liked him as a character and villain. I prefer him over the Fantastic Four. A standalone movie about Dr. Doom would’ve been amazing. They could set it up where the film following that is where things really kick off and where the heroes chosen for it come across him. That with their own character development so we’re actually invested just in case they try to shoehorn in heroes like they did in Madam Web or the Marvels.

Another big plot hole thanks to change to Doctor Doom as the big bad is the TVA. What’s even the point of it anymore? The TVA was and still is tightly connected to He Who Remains, since he was the one who created the organisation, but at the end Loki Season 2 they changed their objective to just fighting off Kang variants attacking the sacred timeline, but of course that was never mentioned by Paradox in Deadpool & Wolverine. So it seems like the TVA will now serve no purpose, even though they could’ve had the role of recruiting the strongest heroes from the dying universes as a place to stay before sending them out to battle world to defeat all of the Kang variants. Maybe they can change it to just say “oh, it looks like someone even MORE dangerous than Kang is attacking the sacred timeline, we better get a bunch of heroes to take him down when he ultimately destroys the entire multiverse.” And that’s how the TVA could be re-involved in the multiverse saga’s plot. Although I agree that RDJ Doctor Doom would get a lot of attention and make a lot of money, they still could’ve pulled it off with Kang by recasting him and showing his variants to be way more powerful in other projects - a threatening character to be taken seriously. Plus it would give more time to set up the character, as well as release more necessary projects to build up to the avengers movie and complete any unfinished storylines/post-credits scenes. I also personally believe that there should be an avengers movie before the Kang dynasty just to set up the new avengers team. If it were me, I’d imagine 4-5 avengers movies in total to end the saga, plus several other team up movies but for other teams. Introducing Doom in Doomsday, without any previous build-up does not do justice to the character, and in the same movie they’re also gonna have to establish the new avengers team + 50 other characters walking around the MCU doing nothing. Honestly, Marvel not even owning up to their mistakes and just trying to do the safest possible option by rehiring the Russo Brothers and RDJ is such a shame to see. They could’ve made an amazing story with what they set up but nope, they had to backpedal to the stuff they know would actually work instead of trying something different. Doomsday releases in like 1.5 years, the Russo Bros. need like 2 whole years just to THINK about all the possible ideas they could make for these two movies, but nah, they gotta rush through it all just to get to secret wars and end the multiverse saga for good, as if it’s beyond redemption, even though it’s not, they could always just decide to take the time to make great stories and make this saga actually worth watching when looking back on it in the future…

I understand and agree with your opinion on the casting of RDJ as dr. doom. No one was expecting that and its pretty much their desperate attempt to get people in seats, however we don’t know any concrete details on how that film is going to be. We need to wait til F4 comes out to see how that film portrays doom, I’m hoping that they get doom right but if they don’t, the soft reboot after secret wars will ( hopefully they recast the main avengers, xmen, dr. doom, some of the newer characters that have either been here longer than others or the actor is getting older). I really think the whole Domino effect to this decline of the mcu was the poor writing of antman 3 and how Kang was portrayed as a weak, intimidating villain and the fact that no avengers team has been formed since endgame and it’s been almost 6 years. I know the pandemic played a role but I can’t help but wonder what could’ve been if that former ceo didn’t force all these Disney shows down our throat. There’s so many continuity errors amongst characters in different projects that doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t allow for us to connect and care for these characters as much as we did for characters in phase 1-3.

There are limits for Secret Wars. Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in elements from the non MCU Spider-Man movies, Dr Strange: Multiverse of Madness introduced X-Men and Fantastic Four elements to MCU, and Deadpool and Wolverine was an homage to the entire X-Men film franchise as well as paying homage to Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Blade & Punisher films. Secret Wars has no such non MCU list of major films to pull from that we haven’t seen already. It’ll have to rely mostly on the slop of Phase 4-6. And judging by how NHH, MoM and D&W are the highest grossing post Phase 3 MCU films it’s clear that audiences seem to be more interested in non MCU content being introduced than exclusively MCU content by itself. All the sequels to Thor, Black Panther, Ant-Man, & Captain Marvel performed worse than their previous films. You already know that the Captain America film will follow suit. None of the new characters have made as massive a splash. Black Widow & Eternals flopped. Shang Chi did alright but we haven’t see anything from him in years. Most of the television shows have been misses. I wouldn’t be surprised if these Avengers movies are the lowest grossing ones since overall interest in MCU seems lower than before until a film with non MCU elements comes around. Doomsday & Secret Wars in the grand scheme of things is extremely limited despite being the grand culmination of everything leading up to it, especially since it’s trying to replicate Infinity War and Endgame without having much building up to it. We saw characters developing from Iron Man 1 to Endgame with multiple Avengers movies keeping everything tied together. We’ve seen no character development across multiple films in the Multiverse saga, so Doomsday and Secret Wars have to rely more on spectacle than proper substantial storytelling, especially since the Kang storyline that was being built up is apparently being dropped. This is clearly evidenced by the Dr Doom casting. They know they have nothing to build up to especially after Kang got dropped so they’re desperately relying on nostalgia casting

It's not like they didn't have actors who double-dipped in roles, by taking Robert Downey Junior the man who started the MCU. To play Doctor Doom; was more than a red flag. Doesn’t really make sense to have an extremely street-level character paling around in a massive multiverse story with every other big superhero. It takes away any real logic for the sake of fanservice. And sure, fanservice can be good (like Wolverine actually wearing a damn costume). But this ain’t good fanservice. This is just pining for a crowd that is most likely not interested in the upcoming story. I’m all down to see more of the Netflix/Disney+ characters. Just in a way that makes sense. Throwing Jessica Jones into the next intergalactic Thor film would be as ridiculous as Punisher just so happening to be in the Quantum Realm at the beginning of Ant-Man 4

It’s I really would just like to know how the hell they are gonna explain this particular Dr Doom. RDJ is either Victor Von Doom who just so happens to look like Tony Stark(kinda like with Chris Evans as Captain America/Human Torch), or his Doom actually is Tony Stark, but he let ego and an evil heart corrupt corrupt his character and instead of Iron Man, he became Doom. I think the latter option would be a worse idea.

What they're thinking is that they are hopping that rdj's presence will draw back the fans that they have lost during the las few years do to their lack of competent writing and focus on modern ideologies. Throughout all phase 4 Sam should have been popping up in post credit scenes recruitment the new heroes they were setting up or i don't like this option but do a series like "The Marvel One Shots". A Shambles. Even in Phase 4 we should have had more Blip stuff as the Avengers lost the world would have turned to new heroes i.e the Thunderbolts (giving them enough time for most of the members to turn from villains to actually liking the hero work) and they could have played on the thing Cap was afraid off in Civil War saying "What if there's somewhere we need to go and they don't let us?" And that's why the thunderbolts couldn't intervene in Endgame, they just protect US Soil. They had the pieces just didn't assemble it correctly lmao.
