The story of Mickel and Joe still touches our hearts today. During the pandemic, Mickel’s fiancee died, he lost his job and he worried he might lose his children. Through Better Together, he and Joe connected. The mentorship quickly grew into a friendship. Mickel was no longer alone.
Better Together helps families in crisis by providing support, work opportunities and community. We do this with the help of background-checked volunteer host families, mentors, job coaches and resource volunteers. Together, with our partners across the state of Florida, we’re preventing the need for foster care and keeping families together.
