all the mentor idols are sometimes a little more strict but it is so that the trainees when they debut have all the experience learned during their training periods and improve the mistakes they made before also every mentor knows that the path to being an idol is difficult

The "F" Lisa was talking about is not a grade but a ranking which each girl received in the first two episodes of the show, performing in front of all the mentors and other contestants too. The girls are ranked from A to F: A meaning the trainees are really skilled and are almost ready to debut. And F means that trainees are lacking in terms of dancing and singing. This is done in order to divide the girls in terms of skills, so they could train properly, according to their skills level. If they work hard enough they will later have a chance to change their rank in the second ranking.

The trainees actually all auditioned prior the recording of the show. So all 109 of them, after passing the initial audition, had to perform in front of the mentors and pd for initial assessment (ranks A, B, C, D, & F). They were then grouped according to their ranks (wearing same color shirts). Rank A's got to choose their music first then their members. They have that perk for being rank A. Those who were not chosen had to group themselves. So the group performances were mixed with trainees from A-F. F didn't mean outright Failed. They were just at the bottom group. In danger for eliminations. After the performances, they were re-ranked again. But this time, not by the mentors but by the audiences. So the ranks were not permanent. Every trainee still have a chance to prove themselves for the performances and get more votes. 1st ranking given by mentors (initial assessment stage). 2nd rankings given by audience through votes (first official stage of groups). 3rd ranking given by mentors again (Yes Okay! solo performances assessment). After that, 1st elimination round (from 109 down to 60), they were ranked according to the number of votes they got from the audiences for a specific period. Then 60 to 35. 35 to 20. Top 9 will debut. That's basically how the show goes. Votes from audiences (youth producers) will determine the top9 trainees that will debut.

9:19 when Lisa said F it was a rank she got, F is horrible, which means she didn’t dance well during the auditions, d is kinda okay, C is your getting there, B is good, and A is excellent, when you get these ranks your in a room filled with people with the same rank so since she got an F last time she worked her way up to B. Through the competition, their ranking will go up or down and will continue to do performances until their final performance. They will compete for the positions of a new Chinese girl group, THE9. Only 9 of them will succeed. 😎

The girl was in class F. The class ranks went through class A-F. F being the lowest class, and A is the highest. They changed class ranks depending on their progress or regress in the show. Each group had a mix of each class and everyone knows who is in what class. Being in rank F doesn’t necessarily mean she failed, she was just in the lowest ranking group.
