I'm 30 and just now considering chasing my dream of being a painter. I can't believe Brooke got so lucky. Divine intervention sent her everything she needed without her asking. I never got that - how do you find a mentor on your own?

This is so lovely to see. I have actually a lot of grief around art as I have always been "talented" at it but never really have given it a real shot due to the societal droning on about how art is a horrible career idea. I am on my second masters (in landscape architecture ironically!) and it still nags at me. I look at what I do and what I did like, 10 years ago, and also imagine where I might be if I had had a true mentor. Maybe I need to go find one. Maybe you, even! But also maybe someone I can engage with in person. To have a mentor is a dream and a huge advantage, just to have someone to push you and believe in you.
