It’s nice to see Marissa try things. Her mistakes or questions often show something important that a pro would not explain. Enjoyed this.

Great fun video. Very helpful for Marisa. Next, see if she can figure out how to shot manually. Let her make all the necessary changes to come up with a good shot. Good video series. Dang, that Marisa is a real honey, she's beautiful and has a great sense of humor, just love her! Daniel, you are a great instructor with an incredible personality. I love your videos.

loving these mentoring marisa videos, you really bounce off each other excellently. i would really like to see you mentoring marisa with a multi-light set-up. use ttl to show the reality of back lighting and how it affects the exposure, thanks guys, lots of fun.

Marrissa, what is going on with the Nikon, is that as it is a mirrorless camera the Live view shows what you will get (WYSIWYG), BUT for flash we DON'T want that, as Daniel showed you, a black screen (if you don't want any ambient light, you set the exp. accordingly), so Nikon in their wisdom, allow the circuitry to show the "flash affect" on the scene, by litterally turning LV (wyswig) off, and showing a jpeg preview from exposure settings & the cameras ttl guess at flash setting, giving you a scene you can see {this shows on the back lcd by an orange lightning bolt}- this shows that the camera IS expecting a flash to fire in the scene, and that it is a jpeg preview you are seeing.just tested it out on my z6 this works also with the Nikon speedlights too, to get "ambient" exposure, what the natural light is doing, just turn the flash off, and the wyswig turns on again!, all automatically.

Great video-- as always! Although why do I get the feeling that Marisa's biggest takeaway from all of that may be that she can prank other photographers with the flash's channel setting.. :-)

It would be cool to see Marisa do a whole shoot by herself just based on what she's learnt, and Doniel only correct her and answer her questions.

How would you set up for group lighting, say 8 to 10 people standing side by side, # of lights/strobes and placement of lights/strobes with 2'X3' softboxes. I realize there are probably several different setups and scenarios depending on the size of flashes or strobes used say either two Canon 600 EX flashes or two Profoto B10;s strobes. Lets say a 24-70mm lens is being used to help figure the distance the photographer needs to be from the subjects at 24mm and 70 mm.👍😎👍 always find photographing groups trickier than photographing individuals.

Daniel, that "air ttl remote", is it the generic one?, aka the one for manual film and LF cameras ( uses the PC cord as the trigger), as compare the canonn/Sony/Nikon digital style remote (uses TTL in_camera communication with the hot_shoe).

Love these quick videos! Daniel, did you happen to mention the price of the Profoto's to Marisa? I don't know if she gets an Adorama employee discount, but it's still a big-ticket item!

Teach her Hollywood lighting with a front 10in fresnel. And get a model for her to shoot that's dressed in the 20's style. ;-) And make her do it wearing 20's period photographers outfit. lol
