This was really interesting, should get them to write down their guess after each clue to see how early they figure it out or how their thought process evolves.

YES! I would love to see how their guess changes over the course of watching and listening! In fact, not just after each clue, but like... let them scribble out their guesswork all along! (and then show us at the END, so as both to not to spoil our fun AND to provide a few chuckles)

Can only support this idea. It felt a little bit, like barry was (like some other times) only hitchhiking on some guesses. I really wonder if they either switched who guessed first, or your idea, writing it down the answers would not be different.

Idea for a scoring system. They have to write down a guess after each clue and get a point every time they're guess is correct. Then they lock in a final answer when the meal is complete which should be 2 or 3 points. Gives a reward for figuring it out faster and presents the opportunity for heartbreak if they have it right but change their mind.

6:35 My guess is Elvis's wedding feast; it feels fancy, yet also American South, and I know both Jamie and Barry are married. I was initially thinking maybe Elvis's last meal (after the fit for royalty clue) but then the second clue made me go with wedding. 8:14 Okay, now I am absolutely certain it's Elvis's wedding. A wedding ends in "tiers" because of the cake, and in the past I'm sure they made Elvis's famous peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich (maybe in a battle? I seem to recall Mike talking about it).

Late in watching but it was the "don't be cruel" that got it for me at 7:44. This was fun. I hope you guys do more of these.

I was already edging towards Elvis, with the first clue "Fit for royalty" and the little tidbits Ben threw in with the "rock n roll" for the oysters. But the second he told Barry, "don't be cruel" - that sealed it for me. :)

I guessed Elvis when the fried chicken came out, and KNEW it when Ben said, "Don't be cruel." Fun game!

Love this series! The fried chicken and ham gave it away so southern!

What a great idea for a series! Would love to learn more about historical events through a culinary lens. Maybe consider going a bit further back? Like ancient to medieval periods would be pretty neat, across cultures as well.

New book to add to Ben’s library: Gran Cocina Latina: The Food of Latin America by Maricel E Presilla. She is a chef, historian and a James Beard winner. I know the Sorted team went to my family’s homeland of Puerto Rico and maybe in the future they could further explore Latin and Caribbean cuisine. You have opened the world for me on your side of the pond and now is the time to pay you back. Thank you and please continue to do amazing work.

This was so fun and amazing to see food that was popular in other times! I had no idea that Elvis Presley’s wedding was done in secret and so influential in pop history. Please do more!

Love this video! I figured it out when Barry and Jamie mentioned we went from oysters to fried chicken. “You don’t want them rockin n rollin” very clever Ben 😂
