Switchback Spiral [Ice Dye Method] by Meo Faustino

For today's video, I will be making a switchback spiral using the ice dye method.
How to do Ice dye Method
Step 1.) Pre-wash the shirt(100% cotton) with detergent.
Step 2.(Optional, base on your preference) Soak the shirt in Soda Ash for a minimum of 1hr and maximum of 48hrs. Soda Ash mixture(1 cup per 1 gallon.) Note: Soda ash is reusable.
Step 3.) Dry the shirt.
Step 4.) Fold the shirt according to the desired design(Spiral, Scrunch, & etc..,)
Step 5.) Put the dye powder.
Step 6.) Put Soda ash after the dye powder (the more the better.)
Step 7.) Let the ice melt.
Step 8.) Cure/Batch/Let it sit for 24hrs to 48hrs and rinse out the shirt
Step 9.) Let it dry and enjoy your tie dye shirt.

I just tried this. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Inhave the hardest time making a good swirl. On this one I retried about 6 times before I just went with the best I could do. And I mean almost done….start over. I took my time. It just take practice I’m sure.

Aloha brotha Meo. Im new to this and watched a video and now im hooked on this hobby. I ordered some cheap dyes off Amazon and after a few months of this im wanting to order new and better colors with quality. Where should i start? In this switchback spiral I think it took me 1.5hrs to fold. overall this is my 5th spiral in my 1 year and 6 months of tie dyeing.. it's not perfect though..😁✌️

When you're doing ice dye put more soda ash and enough ice. I used a measuring spoon with a label (e.g., 1/2 tsp, 1/4tsp. .etc) for the guide I used Acitate transparency film.
