island sanctuary I've been stocking up on the really high value dyes there, and already able to make a killing on it from people preparing for DT

@@wavypavy4059 Another great way to farm high value dyes is in the firmament. I also expect that the new 6.1 crafter/gatherer content will give us a way to get high value dyes so make sure to sell most of the stock before 6.1 if you can. I might be wrong but I think it's a given if we look at how historically we've done it

I hope at some point we get a dedicated inventory tab for dye pots, that way it cleans up inventory a little more

I am begging them to allow us to collect appearances without a storage system, and have a separate dying system so we can always access our dyes without having them in our inventory 😭

That would be so nice, but seeing how old the engine is as well adding in tons of things to the game that sounds like a major overhaul that can cause more harm than good in a coding sense. Hopefully one day we’ll get it but me personally, I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Sadly won't ever happen with the correct system limits. They need a better base code to do this.

Unfortunately this would basically require them to recode the game's entire inventory system as well ensure that no-one loses any items when the systems are switched. This is borderline an entire expansion worth of effort.

Not gonna happen or else they would've done this years ago, its pretty much a system/code limitation. they'd have to make a brand new game from scratch to make it work.

Love how people are, as usual, parroting the official dev excuse for this. You gotta remember that the official dev answer is filtered through PR and just generally not being able to be entirely honest because a layperson wouldn't understand it. They've said things would require a complete revolution multiple times about things they ended up doing anyway. It's not a flat no-no, it's a no-no with their current focus, goals, budget and team size. If you think about it critically, what you're proposing is literally just a numerical checklist of available items and dyes. It's not rocket science, it doesn't require beaming inordinate amounts of data through the servers. It *definitely* doesn't require recoding the whole damn game. It would undoubtedly be a LOT of work to implement, but it's not literally impossible - just impossible within the current set of limitations. I don't think all gear will suddenly have dual dye channels on the initial release. I believe they said they are prioritizing certain sets first (I assume the most popular ones), and will get around to updating other older pieces over time. I know I'd like to see the Frontier Dress not absolutely have to have a pale yellow trim anymore.

Yoshi mentioned in an LL quite a while ago they ARE adding this to 90 AF sets but anything past that is what we don't know.

I hope they do add that to older stuff too, especially cause they use 16 dye per material since around Stormblood.

@@recaplrg3552 As I recall that same LL did mention trying to do it for everything though it was stages since there's so much gear, which makes sense. But we were told 90 sets would have it at launch several months ago, unless that has since changed and Yoshi hasn't made a comment about it.

@@Arcanua They're probably gonna make stuff dual-dyeable at around the same rate they update armors. So they'll go bit by bit. So they'll update the armor textures and materials and while they're at it make the armor dual-dye compatible. That makes the most sense to me.

Kinda silly they left the top on the pictomancer as a portion of the set that doesn't change color with dual dyes. It's RIGHT in the middle of the character.

i think if they're going to back-date this feature they'd do it in tandem with graphics upgrades on those pieces. we know that not every gear piece in the game is getting hit with the pretty stick right away, so if something like the Eureka Elemental Armor is getting 2 dyes (please), that'd probably wait til they go back and adjust the visuals. or they could just not bother. goodness knows they've stopped even pretending to care about viera and hrothgar headgear even for new items. even miqo'te are losing their ears to some hats.

Can you dye the 2nd color without dyeing the 1st? The original reveal implied that there were only 3 dye modes (undyed, 1st dye, both dyes) and that made me wonder if there's something strange in the system that only lets you do the 2nd dye channel if you have something applied to the first.

I'm praying the elemental +1 armor is included in the sets that get a 2nd channel. Just spent so much time doing eureka while I was playing through the stormblood MSQ for the first time that I was actively trying to right click enemies to spin my elemental wheel after I left.

I'm so excited for this. Do you happen to know if the Pictomancer chest keeps the same appearance for males? Or, are there differences in the chest piece? Because I've only seen it on female characters so far.

the metallic look on the dragoon armor looks much better than the ugly metallic dye we actually have. the red looks like a ruby red
