My dad bought one just like this in 1954. I drove it on a date just when I was on leave from the Navy.

That '41 Merc Woody fits your image so well, Dennis. An awesome, original ride. Thanks for featuring these cool wagons.

Even more appropriate, I was waiting for the Andrews sisters. Maybe even Benny Goodman If the owner turned the radio on back then, that's what they would have heard..

I wish Dennis would have asked how the '41 was stored to remain so pristine.

Since it's all wood you can, at great expense, replace any of the wood. Or all of it. But the condition of the dashboard indicates it must have spent a lot of time inside.

The wood probably replaced metal because of the WWII effort. The roof resembles the plane and ship infrastructures that auto manufacturers used.

No, woody station wagons were already around for a long time. Car bodies before the later 30's used some wood framing still, so having so much wood was not as much of a stretch. They were expensive to make so kind of Range Rover of the day. The owner might have had a wood boat as well.

In the UK they are called estate cars, for obvious reasons. "Station wagon" goes back to a passenger wagon used to pick up or drop off a bunch of people at the train station.

KZbin is the worse streaming service next to Tubi TV. As far as utterly useless adds. I cannot deal with this anymore.
@styldsteel19 ай бұрын
KZbin has become so difficult and unpleasant to watch. KZbin owners are so money hungry. 'magine " how much $ they get from the advertising. They could care less about us.
