You insist on comparing the GLA35 with low slung sedans, better to do so against similar SUVs such as the Q3. At my age I’m not keen on lowering myself into the A35 or similar, and trying to get out again.

The 35 is more fun then the 45 because the 45 has a massive turbo which causes so much turbo lag not good.For the street the 35 is a million times better

If the price was revealed, it could've provoked riots all over Australia. He played safe. Probably 60K for an entry level and sky is the limit, if you would like to spec it decently.

BMW’s rival for this car is the X2 M35i. The AMG is better - though the Audi RS Q3 is better again and not much more expensive (89k vs 82k)

Not a bad small all rounder SUV, but, and yes the big BUT of service and reliability of Mercedes Australia, more particularly..!! And with a bit more practicality, maybe the GLB 35 might be a better choice.. But am I feeling it right??? In that price range, I do feel, however that a GV70 or the X3 20i would be a better investment, if one could call it that at all..!!

Ive come to realise that Chasing cars never mention at least a few performance figures so as to allow us to think what this and other vehicles perform like. Why is that?

There’s no conspiracy, it’s just that we haven’t had advanced performance testing equipment before. That will change, so watch this space. I do think we’ve done an outstanding job of providing meaningful, real world, seat of the pants reviews, though.

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 21 INCH WHEELS I tool ownership of this vehicle, I up graded to 21 inch wheels 255/35/21 continental tires ,cost me a pritty coin to do this. A year later @ 15.000 klm (not miles) they told me I needed 4 new tires are you F--ken kidding me? Both rear tires had shifted belts and were wearing unevenly. The front tires are looking like slicks worn terribly bad. I have driven many high end cars and still own 2 I have never see this bull shit . The dealer does nit seam to care lol ... one of my car care places where I take my trucks , said they have never seen this is theur 26 years of business, they stared a claim for me. Against continental, they offered me 50% rebate. Sounds good how ever the tires are $5000 so it's sill costing me $2500 really???? The other issue can't get the tires now what back ordered . Do I get a lawyer and sue? I can't drive and unsafe vehicle, still making monthly payments. This is a Mercedes not a kia ... I wonder if I should have bought 3 KIA krona's for price of this GLA 35 amg.

Is it just me that thinks the Mercedes range (exterior) is starting to date ? I have been watching Hyundai and Kai 2022 range and found they are now on par with Merecedes in tech but without the huge price tag. As for the A35 range definitely not worthy of the AMG badge nor the price tag.

Well, yeah. The idea isn't for an A class to want to "upgrade" to a GLA. It's to get the modern A class interior in a compact SUV to compete with other compact SUV's.

In the 1980s any model on the floor of a MB dealer would have been a wonderful buy. Who can even keep up with these new models that seem to change nomenclature every 6 months? Good review Tom but the brand is nolonger about "quality" or "best engineered". Buy a Kia. They are better engineered and half the price.
