I used to get picked up in one of these after school in the 80s love that ride. I love how the engine purrs.

Not only the best Mercedes ever built. There is a very good market for the car right now. Enjoy the car. I have one would never sell it . ✌🏼

Excellent wagon. I have an '85 which will probably purr on when I am long gone. My door locks have a leak (can all be fixed) and my cruise control works although it might not on the first try. Great family car! I should know, I was 15 when my dad got it. I'm almost 50 now. Ours has the rear facing bench and factory tow hook.

You made some mistakes. 1. What you called the trans cooler, is in fact the oil cooler. the trans cooler is in a lower part of the radiator, go under the car and take a look at the 2 hardlines connecting it and the transmission together... 2. The so called External wastegate is actually the EGR, Exhaust gas recirculation piece. You need to do an EGR delete on this car if you want it to last. You will get better milage as well as power if you do this as well. 3. relubricate your sunroof tracks, also clean out the sunroof drains. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ionZlIKrr8ifm7M Keep going, keep learning with this car and if you look after it, it will last you the rest of your life. Here's a link to EGR delete. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2Xbhml5hqlqjKc

Back in the 1980's I had a 300 TD that was slow and uncomfortable. Like my 180a. I bought a 450 sl that drank gas and ran hot. I bought a 300SD after I sold my Rolls- Royce, that was a money pit. It got stolen now I bought another one that is better than my Corvette Stingray. 300SD is the BEST CAR EVER MADE! .Period. 😄👍❤

The difference in mirrors is simple. You can reach the driver side to adjust and you can't reach the passenger side. No need to have something that could break when its not necessary.

Grew up in Serbia in 1980s with a 1979 300 D non-turbo manual 4 speed European model with small bumpers and flash headlights. No sunroof, no a/c manual windows. from the French coast to Spanish coast to Turkey to Poland them back to Serbia that car never let us down anywhere!!!! PERIOD!!!! OM615, 616 amd 617 Who are the best diesel motors by mercedesas Mercedes does make a best diesel motor. Camshaft in the head where it should be. Million mile motors. the best Mercedes and best cars ever made. The transmissions also lasted well after 200.000 miles I even seen them with 350.000 miles. . I'm glad at your age you acknowledge that which many kids your age do not. By the way in America here l would choose OM616 with manual for simplicity. in Europe they had 220D and even a 200D in W123 chasis.

Those with turbos came with tachometer, while non-turbo came with the big analog clock instead.

The reason the mirror is manual on the driver side is because most of the cars were designed with manual everything so it wouldn’t need to be repaired a lot. This one was upgraded for the states so they added a mirror there for the other side as an option. Same with the electric windows. They were an optional upgrade then. My 240 has them manual on both sides. And that was their option. The budget version. Most German cars in the 80s had no right side mirror at all.

If the door locks, the cruise control and some of the air conditioning don't work, it's usually due to a leak in the vacuum system, right?

@philen4 жыл бұрын
cruise control should not be affected by vacuum issues, at least my VDO is all electric. The "data"box for the cruise control sits beneath the dash and all capacitors get bad over time and there is also a resistor that tend to burn up.

You should be able to raise and lower the headrests w/out pressing the button on the back of the seat. That button is only necessary if you want to remove the headrest. I've owned 8 and have never had to press that button to raise or lower the cushion. Great car!

You obvious don't like the car. I will gladly buy it from you kid. I'm an old guy who will pamper it. BTW the AC is vacumn activated so any leak will cause it to fail. Take the cash and go buy a Honda.
