Nice car, but you have a vacuum leak. Your economy gauge should be pegged fully to the left at idle. Definitely get that checked out, these KJet systems don't like unmetered air.

Why to the left? In my opinion at idle the car is standing still and using fuel for no mileage, hence the economy gauge should lean to the right, not left. this is what happens on my R129 300 SL-24. Where am I wrong?

@@vsalvato53Take a look at other similar vintage vehicles. The r129 is very different. A functioning vacuum system at idle will peg all the way to the left.

Great ! Does it have the double timing chain ? When did they change it ? It's beautiful and looks like to be in great condition , do you use it for a daily driver ? Thanks

AFAIK all Mercedes from this period hav a duplex chain. The first modern Merc with a simplex chain might be the A class from around 2000, but I'm not so sure about that.

The early 3839cc went to a single row chain, but this proved to be unreliable. It was upgraded to a duplex chain in 1984. Timing chains and their plastic guides need to be looked after on M116 and M117 engines and should be replaced at around 160000 km or 100000 miles.
