The speed thresholds are considerably higher than those of the standard system thanks to the fusion of radar and camera data. Up to 100 km/h, Active Braking Assist as part of the Driving Assistance package also reacts to stationary vehicles, and at up to 70 km/h also to pedestrians in the danger area ahead of the vehicle, and can therefore prevent accidents at up to approximately 70 km/h. In the same way, the Cross Traffic function provides protection against a collision with crossing traffic at up to approximately 70 km/h. If the system detects the end of a traffic tailback with no possibility of evasion, it can respond at an early stage up to 130 km/h to lessen the effects of the accident greatly.

My uncle was a Doctor and he recently retired. Hours after seeing his last patient and closing his office for the final time, he was struck by a car near his home at Pittsburgh. I have a Mercedes C200 2015 with distronic and breaking assist still under Mercedes warranty. Yesterday I was driving on the highway with the adaptive cruise control and at a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The speed was lower than 80km/h and accordingly to signals . The car in front of mine hit another car and my C-class started to break automatically. Once I and the computer realised that they came to a complete stop the alarm was triggered, the breaking assist was activated and I pressed the breaks more firmly. Despite the low speed and the safe distance I hit the car in front. I trusted the car to work as designed but it didn't. I am disappointed that I had this type of collision despite all safety measured described in this video, in the car manual and advertised by Mercedes. This was my first accident in 14years driving and it would have been easily avoidable. Now I had to apologies with the other driver which fortunately was not injured and have a high bill to pay. I love my Mercedes, but unfortunately I lost trust.

@@MercedesBenz A bit of neck pain, but no injuries thank you for asking! The audio and warning signal was triggered and I started to break more strongly, but it was too late to prevent the collision unfortunately. The situation did not look to critical to me and it's disappointing to see such a failure of the safety system. The car was updated in August, so I trust I have the latest version of the software.

You're saying "despite the low speed and the safe distance" so that means you obviously noticed that there was a slowage going on but yet you relied on the cars ability to stop even when these cars aren't made to stop just cuz you want it to stop, they have this technology to lower the risk of a serious accident to as low as they can. It's never advertised that they will definitely stop, so even if you have the latest software and hardware, always rely on your own self

Mine has just stopped dead in the road when a car was coming the opposite way on a hill bend, no lane drifting, very dangerous as it caused the car to skid as it stopped very suddenly, brand new A200 4 days old, will be taking it back tomorrow to find out what’s wrong.

+Mercedes-Benz our W212 Mercedes got hit by another car from rear. The impact is not so bad beacause the car was not in a very high speed. The rear got deep scatches. Of course it will be fixed bit the question is. Are the need to replace the parking sensors? I feel like not replacing parking sensors is right. Whereas the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS is an anticipatory driving assistance system that combines a radar-supported distance warning feature, braking assistance from Adaptive Brake Assist and an autonomous partial application of the brakes. Not true. I have a GLA 250 with brake assist. It has never activated. Someone slammed on their brakes in front of me and I hit them--my fault, I was following too closely but my brake assist never warned me or activated the brakes. So I ask my Mercedes mechanic who tells me the system will only work if your hands aren't on the steering wheel! That's insane. He said they had tried it on a different car and set up huge six foot tall card boxes in the path of the car, took their hands off the wheel and low and behold the brakes activated and stopped the car. Ok, so I just happened to have a bunch of large cardboard boxes. I stacked them up six feet wide and five feet tall. Drove towards the boxes with my hands off the steering wheel. Guess what? I knocked the crap out of those cardboard boxes. It has lane assist also which is supposed to shake the steering wheel if it thinks your changing lanes by accident. I have no idea how that works but it's never activated. I made such a mistake by trading in my Honda CRV that had all those features and more...and they worked! I'll never buy another Mercedes again.

I nearly got rear ended because of this system, I was following a bus, that indicated and started to move over into the bus lane as doing so it started to slow for a bus stop, i went to pass and my car did a emergency stop even though i was not inline with the bus, i heard a van behind me screeching to a halt, my car was only 2 weeks old, i dont like this system, it doesn't work very well, and heard other scare story's about cars breaking for no reason.
