At 6:10 you flexed the coil slightly when soldering the 2nd joint. You should really re-flow the 1st as there's now mechanical stress in both the part and joints.

Well done Alex! One request. I would like from you to mention the temperature and the air speed from hot air station you use to different boards and to different components you repair. I know that you do that many times but it will be very useful for us repeat this as many times you can. You are our teacher and to repeat important things will be very useful for us learn from your experience. Sorry for my English is not my native language. Greetings from Greece!
@MBrulla3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't copy his - rather look at what your hot air station works best at. It takes time/practice to know what's appropriate for each application.
@evoxslaydiy76203 жыл бұрын
@@MBrulla yes you are right but it would be useful at least to know approximately the right temperature for a specific board (like ps5,or a specific PC motherboard). This is for me very useful because I don't want to make damage from overheating. There are a lot of parameters when you are performing microsoldering or just soldering a component but an information like that is crucial. The experience is the most important but any tip for us the amateurs is welcome.
@MBrulla3 жыл бұрын
@@evoxslaydiy7620 Your eyes are your most valuable tool. If you're working on something with hot air and you see something shift or melt...stop. If you're working on something that takes a lot of heat and time...use flux and low melt solder. Always replace the leaded stuff. I actually worry when someone asks what temp to use because I've seen people use the same settings as me, but they have a different hot air station and they end up burning things because they didn't know any better.

Alex, why you not used donor board as main board? It's in better condition than clients board. Just transfer chip. As always, nice job and nice watching you 😊

Donor boards are just that. I think donor boards are from costumers that dont want to pay. So if you do that you gonna be out off business In a month.

So the coil is not fob specific? It can be swapped from another similar mercedes fob? I took a donor and my fob into a shop and they said the frequency of that coil is what identifies to my specific car. But so far everything I've read, says the coil is to draw power from the car and to the fob

Like the shirt, "the short is gone" lol... nice slogan. Some shirts feel a bit rough when new, a few washes should cure that. It's probably cotton with polyester mix fabric... they're also warmer than 💯 percent cotton.

At 2:50 there are a couple of nasty looking traces. You should remove the solder mask and corrosion, otherwise it will bring up some issues later on.
