Against the old benchmarks, this CLK500 is something of an extremist. It packs very reasonable room for four adults into a package that's downright compact, not quite 183 inches long, nearly a foot shorter than a Camaro. Extreme, too, is the 5.0-liter V-8's thrust; 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds will get you the last word in most exchanges. Back on those long-ago summer nights, this Benz would have shown its taillights to all the bad boys on the blacktop and had the girls paying for rides.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK500 Coupe was the hardtop variant of the W209 CLK500. Introduced for the 2003 model year, the CLK 500 coupe was powered by Mercedes' M113 E50 engine, which was a 5.0L V8. This powerplant generated 302hp - 339 torque - which was sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission. Production of the CLK 500 ended in 2006, when the CLK received a facelift as well as new engines, resulting in the the CLK500 being replaced by the the W209 Mercedes-Benz CLK550.

Hi there ...I'm in England and I have the Elegance version and have had it for 6 years now and absolutely love it ...Yes its cost me money to keep it in tip top condition and made sure I had each service as it was due. Also had the gear box serviced at 80000 and omg the best 300 quid ever spent. So much technology on the car its unreal and that V8 is truly ORSM ...enjoy yours :-)

Thank you. I hear you. The only difference between it and any other seatbelt system is the plastic arm (delivery system). The seatbelt itself is fine if deployed correctly, regardless of the ‘butler’

That didn’t went well with the demonstration of the seat😂If the SRS warning is on there’s a fault with airbag system. By the way; if the seat/headrest function doesn’t work, it’s probably because of the build in system that prevent you to run down the battery. It kicks in pretty fast, even if fx the doors has been open for a few minutes….

Yeah, it worked 97% of the time but that day, it screwed with me. Likely as you said I was doing a few takes without the car running, possibly kicking in the battery saved mode. The SRS was a result of a faulty seatbelt buckle on that same quirky passenger seat. Thanks for noticing and for your feedback.

Rear fog lamps aren't really an unknown feature... It's mandatory in Europe. Mercedes was just too lazy to delete the feature for north american market in this car, normally it's just absent due to not being required there. Great for heavy fog, rain and snow though.

Agree, however in USA and Canada, very few people are aware that cars have them. I found out after buying a 1991 BMW 850i because the owner was a super enthusiast and wrote down every feature that could be used as an amendment to the manual. Thanks for watching

“People will get angry with rear fogs on “ Come to the UK…..these buggers leave them on for no reason. Very annoying indeed. The seat belt butler motor can give up the ghost. £285 fix at independent dealer. Nice car. I have the convertible Sport model with AMG package.

@llarose Great video larry I just bought a 2004 140,000 miles, I have a question regarding backseat headrest, They go down but how do you get them back up, The button works for down not up mode,

@@miamibeachsunnydays8274 they are manual only. Just a simple ‘pull’ back to the upright position. All Mercedes in this era are similar.
