I've chosen the 2017 E-Class with the luxury 3 package, and additional options, as a "bespoke purpose built" company car for Dublin, Ireland. I've been told to allow approximately 2 months from order to delivery. Very much looking forward to it! I will have to get used to right hand drive however. Thanks for this great review.

Mercedes swapped a turbo 4 in place of a V6, made the car lighter, but it only improves mileage by 1 mpg in mixed driving?? I think I'd rather have the smooth V6 and take the 1 mpg hit. Forced induction cars will prove more troublesome out of warranty and perhaps even in warranty.

With this new E-Class, Mercedes is probably back as class leader in which Audi A6, Lexus GS, and Cadillac CTS once roamed. The only demerits? Mercedes' command system and the $70k+ price point, but it's a Mercedes Benz. You're supposed to pay a lot for one.

adolf hitler Lexus makes exceptional cars the reason why they are rated the most reliable and are top in sales excluding the Ls where the s class topped cause it's new and the Ls has been around since 07. it doesn't matter. As noted, other brands would never be given a pass for launching such an expensive car with only a 241hp four. Everyone knows most drivers need no more than that, but luxury cars are about MORE. You don't NEED anything offered in the E class. You are supposed to be getting more than what's offered in lesser cars.

I've seen your American car reviews and some of your european luxury car reviews. You seem to be awed by Euro luxury brands. As with most American reviewers you downplay the outrageous price tags and pricey extras that are often available on far cheaper cars.

I've been doing this for nearly 20 years so I'm not just some Johnny-come-lately. I couldn't care less where the vehicle is manufactured or who makes it...I'm beholden to no one. So when I give you my opinion you can rest assured that it's based on nearly 2 decades of comparative experience. Like I do each time, I gave you the pros and cons as I see them. If you believe this particular E-Class is overpriced relative to the offering, you should take into account that its equipped with cutting edge technology its competition doesn't even offer in their comparable cars.
@shethjones44948 жыл бұрын
since it's the newest offering it does offer more autonomous driving tech than it's key competitors. It also offers less power and higher pricing than virtually everything in this class. I don't think thats excused because it offers semi autonomous driving tech in a pricey option package that most buyers won't ever get.

I went from a BMW 3 series to a 2017 E300. The 3 series drove and handled better. My E300 was peppered with problems. Had to bring it in the shop over 25 times in the first few months. Ridiculous! They put me in another E300 (this time a package with heads up display and massaging seats, etc.). First few months, in the shop over 6 times, and Mercedes initially refused to fix the creaking in my door when it went over bumpy roads because they could not duplicate it! Then they were able to duplicate it but wouldn't fix it because it wasn't "continuous" enough! Screw Mercedes! What a POS product they produce! I took a huge loss on the trade in for a BMW. It's night and day! The BMW drives and handles great and has no rattles. It nearly glides everywhere I go. But I paid the price to experience how bad Mercedes is! I will NEVER buy a Mercedes again!
