I just finished working on a 2007 ML450. When it was brought to me the whole vehicle was very low. I got it to raise up except the front right. I found the front level arms and ball fittings to the level sensors very rusted. I cleaned with a wire wheel and put anti seize grease on the ball fittings and also replaced the front sensors. Still same issue. I suspected the valve block since the pump was already replaced. While replacing the valve block I found the exhaust hose from pump to one way check valve was ripped, so fixed that. After valve block replacement it raise all around properly so seemed to fixed the issue.

Thx Mike. Appreciate the response.. I also suppose you did not have to re calibrate. Looks like you just replaced the shocks and the.valve. Yes its true my compressor does not run all the time. Just when I start the car.

Thank you for showing us how to replace part that does work well. However, I have watched how to change air suspension compressor and valve block, my question about how do I know the problem from compressor or from valve block while front a car does not getup when I had malfunction message on dashboard and before do it that I heard air release sound when I parked the car and switched off engine.

That's a good question. In the morning I will pass your question to my step son.
@maksimus-1295 ай бұрын
The release you may hear after a drive cycle can be normal. As far as whether it’s the compressor or valve block though it’s hard to say. Replacing the compressor and valve block in conjunction is what is recommended. However starting with the compressor is usually is the best bet and make sure to replace the 40amp fuse if it’s not blown already. Then if that’s all good but you still have issues move to the valve block.

Mike.. would you be able to let me know what the symptoms were of a bad valve? My car rear drops if I keep it parked for some time. Both wheels however at the same time.
@michaelkoren5610 ай бұрын
My son is a certified mechanic, sending you his answer. If both sides are down that would be a sign of the air struts being defective. The valve being defective would typically cause a fuse to blow because it’s going to over work the compressor. Usually when air struts are starting to leak it’s usually a good time to replace valve block and compressor in conjunction of the air springs but it’s not mandatory( typically air struts, then compressor w/ valve block). Hopefully that answers your question! Next Sunday I will post a video on how to change an air compressor and suspension air compressor filter. It does make sense. Both can be true and the air springs can be checked for leaking by spraying them with soapy water while they are aired up

My car is a gl500, the rear suspension is completely down and the front suspension is good. Is it possible that this valve is the cause and how can I be sure?
@maksimus-1292 ай бұрын
Well is the compressor running because if it is then the next two thing I would if you suspect is the valve block is you can loosen one of the lines at that lead to the rear and if no air pushes out( given if the compressor is working as intended) then that would confirm the valve block is bad. However you need to confirm the compressor is good and running (sometimes when the compressor is working to long typically would blow a fuse 40a). If that is all good and air is pumping then I would suspect that the air springs in the rear are defective. I’ve seen them leak as early as 5years to 10 years. That’s their typical life expectancy. Let me know if that answers your question or if you have and other questions.

Why didn’t you use the new Mercedes fittings? Just cut the line , light sand to round and re-insert? The advantage would be you would have new gaskets all around? I’d like to know. I’m about to do this job. If you bought cheap one from Amazon I could understand why you would re-use the fittings.
@michaelkoren568 ай бұрын
I always try to keep original parts whenever possible. Thank you for your question.
@maksimus-1298 ай бұрын
Actually you do not need to cut the lines at all. What you should actually do is push the nut higher up the line and will expose the keepers. Break those off as the valve block will have new nuts installed as seen in video. Once you remove the keepers and nuts it’s just push to connect no cutting necessary!
@mespartacus8 ай бұрын
But when you remove the old fittings the plastic tube that is left is no longer nice and flat. It is gauged from the old fitting. so that is why I’d cut the end off and lightly sand. Make sense?
@maksimus-1298 ай бұрын
@@mespartacusyeah that definitely makes sense! I typically have never really gouged it. But sanding it doesn’t hurt especially if the end of the fitting is not flush. But usually what I have ran in to usually is still flush.
