I have a 2007 C230 and two weeks ago I would have trouble starting it at the gas pump. it would crank and would have to hold the gas pedal down til it would start. replaced the Purge Valve and problem solved. Thank you so much for the help.

+Chris Lopez No problem. Interesting, I guess your purge valve solenoid was stuck open, and when you started your car after a fill up the mixture was too rich to start properly?

Hey this may be a Longshot for you to reply, but that hose in the back that you stated goes pass the throttle body into the intake. I'm missing that hose and I'm having trouble seeing exactly where into the intake it goes. Do you have a demonstration video that can help locate that?

It is normal for this valve to click because if it didn't click and stayed open too long you will get a very rough idle

Hello Cars N Boba. Nice video. I have mercedes Cl203 sport coupe 1.8 compressor. After replacing fuel filter, begin constant noise from the filter. Looks like there air in the system. The filter inside has a pressure regulator. And I supposted that the air enter in thiese regulator. In the moment a can't fix the problem. Can you suggest me some solution. Thank you in advance.

Using regular gasoline instead of the recommended Premium will make that valve go bad?

I have a 2005 C240 4Matic that intermittently has the P0444 error. Should I be looking for a leak somewhere in one of these hoses?

this problem is related to the electrical connection to the purge valve, specfically an open connect which means a break in the electrical circuit. I suggest looking at the electrical harness going to the valve ( you see me unplug it in the video) make sure it snaps back in place

do you have a video on how you smoked the system with a cigar and how you replaced the so lenoid in the EVAP canister?

Tarah Tobias literally blew smoke into one end of the line from the engine bay. Solinoid wasn't replaced, turns out, a lot of dust and dirt accumulated in the solinoid due to the open end exposed to atmospheric air collecting dirt in the wheel well (poor design). I texted the solinoid off the canister and washed it out with some MAF cleaner. The solinoid was only stuck due to mechanical blockage from dirt. Still running fine 2 years later. I actually have a video but have yet to post it. Will post it when I have time to edit

On this model does anyone know where the charcoal canister vent valve is located? In assuming near the fuel tank

Yes, it's right on top of the canister itself.

I have a 02 MB C240. Recently, it goes into 'limp mode' otherwise it won't shift out of 1st gear when I'm driving it. also, found out that if the engine is cool enough, it drives fine. I don't know what's wrong and the MB dealer cleared the codes, but didn't fix the problem. Could it be the solenoid or is it the linkage?

hi,please assist.mine has an engine light on and a P003300 error i.e "THE OUTPUT FOR THE CURRENT SWITCHOVER VALVE OF AND BYPASS FLAP CHARGE STORED AIR HAS AN ELECTRICAL FAULT,Could the Purge valve be the one malfunctioning as well?

So when the purge valve keep ticking for 5minutes or so ,fo that means its going bad/out..

Des Fields Not necessarily. Hence the p0445+ticking in the title. It's suppose to tick as it has to open and close to vent the fuel vapour canister, but some say if it is loud it might be going out soon (might just be hearsay?). If you have the p0445 Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted, that is the best clue.

Okay thanks but now I can see that its not the purge valve..I keep getting this gas smell out of my vents every time I turn on my heat or AC..

Des Fields is the car throwing any codes? Just to clarify, it's smell of gasoline right? Not combustion gases ? If it's gasoline I guess there's only 2 places it can come from. Either there is a air leak in the vacuum system for the purge valve, or a leak in the fuel system (fuel rail, fuel rail test port)

Nope, ticking is normal. That is the solenoid opening and closing the valve. This occurs when engine is at operating temperature and is idling. If you suspect issues or leaks with the purge solenoid, there is either no ticking or there is a slight leak at the solenoid (vacuum test).

My question is for the PVC vacuum line from the Air intake to the purge valve, is that a one way check valve pressed into the line, I tested mine and it seems to flow both ways in that tube. I have 05 c230k, it starts fine no issues, then after is fully warmed up it idles rough between 500-1000 RPM, I've already replaced the infamous 12$ hose, well the hose was fine but that check valve was cracked in half.

Do you have a Xentry scan tool? You can perform manual testing of the solenoids

I have mercedes e320 1997 and the codes say evap leak no purge flow and also have the ets support system on the car turns on fine no shaking tuns fine but as soon as it start warming up it turns off then wont start up again until it sits for a while help
