The SL55 AMG Mille Miglia is the rarest R129 , only 10 Ever made , centre console , and side door speaker panels are made out of carbon fibre , the dash is leather covered , and the seats are half leather , half fabric !!

Well, Mille Miglia was a special edition repeated on many engine specs in R129s in some production years. And there were in total probably around 90-100 units of Mille Miglia Edition cars made. So if we're speaking of special editions then Formula One Edition is the rarest. If we're speaking of one of a kind spec or spec made in one production year or engine spec mixed with special edition there's no doubt that for example SL55 Mille Miglia is unique and very rare. As well as regular SL55 is extremely rare indeed. If we're speaking of rarest SL R129 then it would be probably 3.6 AMG (2 units made) but it wasn't a normal production car as well as we don't know if second car survided untill today :)

The only differences between this and my pristine '99 SL500 Sport with SL1/SL2, same AMG wheels (oem), panoramic top, and brakes which will stop on a dime and give you back a nickel (not sure how this SL's brakes are "more efficient") - is that I don't have a silver soft top, a groovy little "SL" sticker on each fender, and my gorgeous chestnut wood center console, steering wheel, and shift knob haven't been ruined by painting them silver 🙄. mechanically and functionally, there's no difference between mine and this one. Aesthetically, the differences are minimal. So the price tag on this specimen is what?

There is regular Joe's and there are collectors. This is almost the rarest edition.. only 20 made , Mille Miglia 11 I suppose.. . So for whoever is into this model .. than yes the price is irelevant .
