Mercedes-Benz Sprinter - How to replace the cable track on the load compartment door | W906

Dirt, debris and packaging remains can cause the cable track on the Sprinter to tear.
To replace the cable track you first need to remove the door trim.
Use an assembly wedge to undo the door trim.
Pull the cables from both speakers.
Disconnect the cable track connectors on the sliding door.
Manually unlock the motor coupling.
Turn the vehicle key clockwise 180 degrees.
You can now move the door manually.
You need to remove the B-pillar cover to get to the screws for the door sill trim.
Detach the door handle and remove the seal on the front passenger door.
Remove the B-pillar trim.
Now you can access the screws for the door sill trim.
Take out the entrance/exit lamp and pull the connector plug.
After removing the last screw pull the door sill trim up and out.
Vacuum out the dirt and debris.
Don't forget the area under the step.
Dust will also settle underneath the cable track.
This area must be completely cleaned.
Using a screwdriver, pry out all six plugs from the guide rail.
More bolts are located at the points shown here.
Remove the bolts found under the plugs.
Take out the running board.
Be careful not to damage the cable track wires.
Disconnect the cable track connectors at the B-pillar.
Using cutters, unclip the cable track wires from the body.
Disconnect the last cable track connector.
Place a clean cloth between the sliding door and the side wall.
This prevents the sliding door from damaging the side wall.
Unscrew the bracket and the lower carriage of the sliding door.
Pull the cable track wires out of the sliding door.
Remove the cable track together with the carriage.
The order number for the new cable track is shown here.
Thoroughly clean the entrance area.
Install the new cable track by performing the steps in the reverse order.
In addition, install the foam stripping shown here.
Pull off the protective foil and adhere the foam stripping to the load compartment sliding door near the bottom.
Cut off the excess foam material.
The foam stripping prevents damage to the cable track caused by dirt and dust from the interior.
The door of the Sprinter is now working perfectly again.

Does the van think that the door is open if you snip the wire? Mines a camper and would need to be half taken apart to get to where this guy got. So the snippy idea sounds tempting 😅

@xQueensryche94 Nope, it's merely for locking/unlocking. One the door is closed, it's closed, just not locked. You have to manually lock it from inside
