Mercedes-Benz Vito - How to remove / install the window lifter | W639

The side window of the Vito can no longer be opened.
To determine the cause, the entire window lifter must be removed.
Remove the key.
The window lifter is located behind the door panel.
Many electrical connectors have to be disconnected during the removal.
Observe the corresponding WIS document for removing the window lifter.
Continue with the door handle cover.
This is only plugged in and can therefore be removed with an assembly wedge.
Remove the door handle by removing the two screws.
There are also three rivets at the bottom of the door panel.
Unscrew the center piece of each rivet.
Remove the remaining piece with a wedge.
Remove the clipped door panel, use a wedge if necessary.
It can generally be removed by hand.
Unhook the door operation cable.
Disconnect the electrical connectors for power window operation, seat adjustment and comfort illumination.
Note: The green plastic rivets can break off during removal.
Replacement rivets can be ordered.
In the next step, remove the speaker.
To do so, disconnect one connector and remove four bolts.
Disconnect all connectors on the door control unit.
Pick up some angled long-nose pliers.
Press the plastic catches together gently at the top and bottom.
The door control unit is thus removed.
Cut the cable ties on the wiring harnesses.
Detach the door foil from the driver door.
If it tears, a new one can be ordered.
During removal, guide the cable and lines through the cutouts of the door foil.
The window lifter drive and motor are now exposed.
Secure the window with adhesive tape.
This prevents it sliding down during the work.
Remove the three bolts on the window lifter drive.
After removing the drive, remove the three nuts of the power window motor.
Disconnect the connector of the power window motor.
Slide the window down carefully.
This provides access to the side window attachment.
Loosen the two nuts just slightly.
This is sufficient to open the mounting clamps of the window.
Slide the window out of its attachment all the way up.
Secure it again with adhesive tape.
Remove the two lower nuts on the window lifter.
Press the two plastic rivets through to the inside with pliers.
Only loosen the last two upper nuts slightly.
This is sufficient because the window lifter is only hooked in here.
Carefully remove the window lifter through the large cutout in the door skin.
Install in the reverse order.
Note: Tighten the nuts attaching the side window to 9 Nm.
Note: Tighten the nuts holding the window lifter at the bottom to 14 Nm.
After installing the new window lifter, check the ambiance illumination for proper operation.
Perform a function test of the power window.
Switch on the ignition and actuate the power window.
This normalizes the end points for the power window motor.
The motor must stop automatically in the automatic operation position when the window has reached its end point.
To achieve this, raise and lower the window until the automatic operation function operates properly.
When this is the case, the window closes automatically via the comfort locking system.

Thanks for this. Today I replaced my left hand mechanism, was quite easy really and now works like new. On mine the door film was glued in place and difficult to remove so I cut the left and bottom edges with a stanley knife so I could lift it up, will glue it back down once I get some glue. I also reused 2 clips that were part of the original assembly, they are tiewraps that clip into holes on the metal door, they are used to pull the cables into the door and keep them out of the way of the glass as it moves up and down. Just took a bit of figuring out how to do it. ie. lift the glass all the way to the top to fit the new mechanism. Before fixing the glass connect up the motor and using the switch lower the new mechanism towards the bottom of the door so both glass clips are easy to access, then drop the glass in. Don't tighten the bolts fully until you have run the glass up and down a few times, then with glass at top tighten top bolts. lower glass to bottom and tighten bottom bolts

I own a 2004 109CDI - my doors have the strengthening ribs. Does anyone know how to remove the door lock?

i think a lot of people are having failures of the window elevator system from the 2000-2010 models. I had it on both sides on my 2004 Vito. It gotta be a weak construction / parts. And its not easy to fix
