My wife owns a W126 (500 SEL), same blue / silver as the one in the video. Her dad bought it new just over 40 years ago. Built like a tank, drives like a dream, and has a surprising amount of creature comforts like ABS, cruise control and climate control. And it’s a great car to work on.

Общались где? Одноклассники и одногрупники, вместе с друзьями детства разъехались кто-куда и с концами. С соседями и коллегами по работе только "здрасьте". Письма отправляли только тем, кого уже знали лично, как и звонки по городскому. Одна болтовня с семьёй. Лучше уж телефон. Душно, но зато правда.

The consumer is responsible for this as well unfortunately. Manufacturers look at statistics. And statistics show that people are stupid and are highly likely to wreck their car in a few years, or replace it because they want a new toy to make their neighbor jealous, women can't park, people are broke and can't afford gas. Explains why everything now is stupid hybrid hatchbacks with little engines that blow up right after the company insurance expires. And can you really blame the manufacturer? Imagine investing years in design alone, check every weakness and engineer it to last, use expensive materials and manufacturing processes, and in the end it doesn't matter because the customer doesn't care and gets bored fast or wraps their car around a tree because they're watching TikTok and driving

Only junk and rust for 1000. This cars are the best investment. Now the price is 60.000 euro for a perfect one. After 10 year, 100.000. In the UK there are no good and the steering on the wrong side.

When was 21 we had a 450SE W116. I often took him for a Drive and it was just wow. Specialy these Days it was very special and rare to own or drive a S Class Merc not like it is today.

Ich fahre seit 1986 Auto, und habe seitdem 12 verschiedene Autos gehabt, von Audi 50 mit 40PS, über Talbot, Opel, BMW und Volvo mit 265PS. Müßte ich mich für ein Fahrzeug entscheiden, das ich bis an mein Lebensende fahren müßte, wäre es der W123, den ich als Student hatte: 300D, EZ 1977, Motor mit 80PS (statt kurz drauf 88PS). Dieses Auto war einfach nur klasse...

They were QUALITY, but don't bother telling me they were reliable. In the 80s my dads bosses son had a Mercedes around 1976 and it was thr most nightmarish unreliable POS ever. They're brilliant went they're running, but they've always been overcomplicated. They were WELL built but the overcomplication didn't help reliability. In the 2000s my moms boss had the EXACT model of the blue one at the start and they blew a lot on keeping that going also. They're high quality and great when they're going, but nightmares if excessive complication when they're not because these models had climate control but it was a strange thermostat and spring structure inside the switch on the dash.

Grew up in the eighties with these great cars around.. and yes, Modern Talking were still playing on the radio also. Still got two W126, one 280 SE and one 380 SE, both are great. I really like the Coupe version of the W123, but haven't got one (yet).. thanks for the video! Cheers

I had a 1987 I think, black 560 SEL with sienna brown color interior, reclining back seats with 2 different heating modes! And heated front seats, with a little leg rest on the floor in the back. Won’t even get started on the comfort and reliability. Now I got a med size 1995 e320 sedan gold with beige interior much simpler and better gas mileage which I actually like even better.

Бэха очень нравится,она драйвовая машина,можно сказать король трассы.У кого была бэха те и знают все про эту машину...(были бэхи тоже)она не хуже мерса...но...но я все ровно за мерседес...были мерсы и сейчас тоже есть мерс,но я рано или поздно куплю именно 126 s-класса...я ездил именно на 126 кузове...мощняга,пуля...еще раз,я за мерседес!

كان عندي واحده موديل 88 في عام1995 وكان عمري وقتها 16 سنه فقط ولونها اسود وكانت معي لغايه عمري20 شراها مني صديق لي. كانت نظيفه جدا جدا ولونها اسود متانه وقوع وصاروخ ارض جو بالطريق. لا تقلق ابدا اذا بنشر عندك اي كفر حتى لو انت بسرعه 200 المرسيدس الموديلات هاذي امان قوي لا تنقلب ابدا. كل اللي عليك امساك الدراكسون وابعد رجلك عن دعسه البنزين وستقف لوحده . كنت اذهب من السعوديه والامارات في ساعات قليله جدا .ومن السعوديه ل الكويت في ساعه ونصف فقط رغم ابتعد كثيرا عن دوله الكويت. السياره هاذي لو في طريق ف المحيطات ستذهب بكل من الشرق الى الغرب لا تقلق . وقطع السيارة تدوم كثيرا . قليله جدا بالاعطال . ثبات وراحه بالطريق . افضل ما صنعت المانيا صراحه هاذي السيارة . انجح سيارة وقتها . واكثر والى الان هي موجوده بيننا.

The thing is that when you live a time, that kind of Zeitgeist always leave something in you psiche. The ethos of those Mercedes-Benz today we call classics was magic, it’s utterly true. And in certain way got the blueprint of what we think as Mercedes-Benz. The answer is that if even with way of time is it possible to mantain or create any kind of true spirit and distinctive feature, I got my doubts. Anyways those autos not just Mercedes were pure class.

Man wish they had a w201(US called the 190e) in there. Funny how stripped/basic you could get it in Europe, yet it still had that same feel as an S-class that cost 4 times the price. The build quality of that tiny little car is nuts, even 35 years and 250,000 miles later the one my friend has the doors shut like they are new, the interior has no wear, the paint is original(light metallic blue, grey cladding) and still looks great.

Just sold family's 123 / 1982 300D one owner last fall. Car paint look like new and interior the same. Build quality over the top. Mechanics that service the vehicle is issue. Parts are become impossible. Loved the car took care of it since day one for my mother. We had a 126, that my dad had 82 300SD , best road car that go 600 miles per tank. Kept it 12 years and ran perfectly.
