I owned a W124 300E for many years. It was such a joy to drive, good handling, astonishingly superb ride, way beyond the comfort of common mere vehicles, awesome solid build quality, She provided decades of trouble free fun, great Italian good looks and was sadly retired at age 28 years-being replaced with a W211 E350. Thanks for your neat video and a wonderful trip down memory lane 🙏🏼😂

I have the 94 E320 Coupe with the 5 Speed prefer driving it over my E350 Sedan any day the W124 was one of the last over engineered built to last benzs made by Mercedes.

Sure it's the best Merco's coupé: an engine with 6 cylinder, a 5 speed and a cool RWD with a luxury interior if you like leather. I agree mate. Still miss my 300D luxury: automatic with the speed control, leather in black, electric sunroof, electric and orthopedic leather seats, retractable headrests, 4 power windows, 2 power mirrors, electric antenna, 100L tank, adjustable steering, climate, it was a class affair Boeing not a car ! Drove it over 400 000 kms and sold it to a friend that had another one.

A real german used car that hat a changed tacho !! as usual in germany !! a 300 doesn't have a limit speed at 220. But a 300, 300CE24 or 320CE are very good cars and smooth coupés with sufficient engines, maybe one of the best merco's coupé.

a PGA Tour Pro friend had a 300 CE 24 and I can recall doing over 130mph (210kph) in it on Welsh A roads. He ordered it whilst playing the German open then flew over to collect it and drove it home. it was fully loaded and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. He told me at the time (1989) that it was the 1st one in the UK

It should reach 230km/h (speedomax 240). You have speedometer from a 230 model. The 300-24 had a 260 speedometer

The 300 can be a 12valve engine, which has 180hp, the 24v has 220hp. The 12 valve has a 240km/h cluster, so your right about it being the wrong one.

@@Thejan245 LOL... I was going to bring up the 114 too. I grew up with parents owning a 114 and two 123s. The 114 was a dream. The 123s were diesels and may have lasted longer (had we kept them), but the 114 was really special. I have a 95 124 cabrio now.

I own this car and recently took it to a local mechanic to have the water pump changed and to make the long story short a bolt sleeve that is part of the belt tensioner end up jamming the harmonic balancer pulley with the engine. Am 😡 that along can cause internal damage. Belt drive etc.

300ce speedometers max out at 240, this one does at 220....is it a 230CE? Will admit that it sounds like a 6 cylinder 300CE but the speedo does t match??

Wenn es sich hier wirklich um einen M103 handelt....m.E klingt er wie ein M104.. dann hat er wahrscheinlich ein problem mit dem Mengenteiler oder / Und der Zündanlage.. Mein 300TE war wegen dieser probleme eine Wanderdühne.... zog keinen Hering mehr vom Teller.

Er sollte mindestens 225 km/h schaffen. Meine Limosine lief mit 185 tsd. Km noch 235 lt. Tacho. Warum hat er hier einen Tacho der nur bis 220 geht?

If it is a M104 then it is correct. M103 has 240 tacho.

This is most likely a 230CE and not 300CE as its indicated top speed of 210 is what a 230E/CE achieves. A 300E has a 260kmh speedo and has a top speed of 230kmh true and show 240 on the clock

Mine Does but its not my e320 merc its my 335i BMW , I've often thought what it would be like with the n54 BMW engine in it , but then I think about the w124 coupé's handling and while its OK its no e92 , it wouldn't see which way the BMW went , even if it did have the same engine , but I still love it as much as the BMW.

Ich weiss es wurde schon oft geschrieben, aber irgendwas stimmt mit dem m103 hier wirklich nicht vielleicht Benzinfilter dicht oder eine von den zwei Benzinpumpen kaputt. Ein W124 220e mit 150ps schafft Tacho 220 also ca. echte 210. Also fehlen hier mindestens 40ps. Viel Erfolg bei der Fehlersuche👍

Hatten wir bis jetzt auch mehrmals besprochen, höchstwahrscheinlich wurde der Tacho umgebaut oder Ähnliches. Habe aber dem Fahrzeughalter auch schon Bescheid gegeben :)
