07:10 interesting that you bring up that point. I bought in 2016 a 435xd Convertible, that costed me 99.000€. Now my 440i in 2024, fully kitted costet me 102.000€. So we had quite some inflation in between, why I acutally was pleasently suprised that my new car is actually better (in terms of technically more advanced), but still not overaly inflated in pricing.

The way it tries to blend C and E together reminds me of the CLK class

my 2024 M440xi Convertible is also a hybrid. Helps a lot on lowering fuel consumption, allthough its only 400Wh of battery.

I agree a E class cabrio, something between BMWs series 4 and 8, would be better. I like black interiors.

How was the steering in normal/comfort mode? From a C300 Cab owner here, I can't stand the odd on/off assisted turning steering effort... curbed a wheel the second turn out of the dealer lot! In sport/etc it becomes more linear, and it looks like you only drove it that way so maybe didn't experience odd steering?

Soft close hood but not trunk?? That’s interesting

Re: the final suggestion, the only reason the CLE exists is because neither the C-class nor the E-class coupe and cabrio did well enough on their own. E-class coupe and cabrio sales in particular were dire. This is Mercedes' attempt to make a C+ class to still try to differentiate themselves from BMW and stay a bit upmarket of the 4 series. But sadly there's just no demand for the two door E-class.

Not exactly a news flash but convertibles and coupes don’t sell well so they had to go this route and make the SL and GT pretty similar. At least we got the CLE, the Camaro is dead, Infiniti is killing all their cars, Audi is killing off their 2-doors, etc.

I dream of the day when someone makes a convertible that adults over 4 foot 6 inches tall can ride in the back seat.

The S Class convertible was close to that. The leg room was still tight, but it was easier to sit in that back seat than most every other 4 seat convertible.

Rolls Royce Dawn, likely upcoming Rolls Royce Spectre Drophead, and Maserati Grancabrio. And Cadillac Sollei if that makes it to market.

Aren’t convertibles really a thin slice of the automobile market? Are they really relevant sales wise? Personally, I wouldn’t have one. They look good driving around but road noise from other vehicles is distracting, weather must be almost perfect to be enjoyable (too hot in the South) and finally no privacy. Anyone driving nearby can and will be watching you. Protection is a little better than a motorcycle…. I have rented them before and was not a fan. Thanks MM!

That Lexus LC500h is the only competition that comes to mind and likely the one I'd choose, if I were looking for a hybrid convertible, that is.

I think you’d get more views if you tested more exotic cars. Also, why not test modern classics like a Ferrari 458

Extra weight is never a good thing.
@cbotten1066 күн бұрын
Nah, convertibles always have a little extra to keep them from being Flexible Flyers. Nearly all of them need stiffening when they cut the roof off. That's actually "good weight", in my book.
@65hi863dhyu6 күн бұрын
@cbotten106 for sure. Like the RF chassis is worth 100 lbs for the extra 30% in chassis rigidity but this is excessive. As is the new 4400 lbs AMG GT.

Ok firstly normal people stick to the speed limits and the M4 can be a dog to drive. Secondly please never put Cadillac in the same sentence as Mercedes Benz it’s embarrassing. Verboten !!!
@TomK-ti8kp6 күн бұрын
Not embarrassing at all. Cadillac has delivered some great products lately, while Mercedes has kind of been resting on their laurels. If you’re talking a 1980s Cadillac vs a 1980s Mercedes, then yes, the Mercedes would be leagues better.
@brent0016 күн бұрын
@ I have first hand knowledge of Cadillac so I rest my case with that. ! And ahhh bullshit .
@rosstudisco86506 күн бұрын
Why do you think the M4 is a “dog to drive” and the Cadillac Escalade is the top SUV on the planet. The GLS is in serious need of updating.
@stevemartegani6 күн бұрын
Ya, Mercedes is trash. Don't even try to compare them to Cadillac!
@MercOne6 күн бұрын
@@TomK-ti8kp Mercedes' lineup still shits on Cadillac's. Are you kidding? Cadillac is only relevant in one or two areas, Blackwing vehicles and the Escalade. Yeah they're making progress, but brand to brand and lineup to lineup Cadillac still doesn't even compare. Their entire XT lineup is just utter junk. Cadillac can't give an actual sedan away and their SUVs outside of the Lyriq and Escalade are just nothings. No coupe or convertible anymore either. Healthy luxury brands offer choice.

What on earth is going on with the wind deflector , seriously is that the best MB can come up with ? 🫣🫣
@unvjustintime16 күн бұрын
I think it’s genius how else do you charge $3500 to fix something that other cars don’t even have when it breaks? Several models have the rear camera open when stopped and close when starting to drive. I mean wow they knew from the start how do we take something reliable (a stationary rear camera) and make something that is 100% going to break out of warranty
@jpl88785 күн бұрын
It apparently works extremely well, better than anything else on the market. I agree it's ugly, but wind buffeting is a huge challenge for convertibles and if their solution works then more power to them.
