@@jayheritageclub7852how can you check if your camshaft magents are bad or leaking? Or should you just replace them as maintenance every once in a while? Mine has 90k miles.

@@multiblade04 just take the connector off and look for oil on connector or in magnet plug

@@jayheritageclub7852while its off and if clean of oil should i go ahead and replace it anyways cause cheap part or if it is clean of oil just reinstall the old part?
@jayheritageclub78527 ай бұрын
@@multiblade04 if replacing preferably to use the factory part I didn’t see other problems with them besides the oil so I would just keep them, you can get wire extensions it will help to keep the oil from getting to main harness.

Thanks for showing up close how to undo the clips that secure the connectors. What yr. is your car and what's the mileage? Some folks in the forums say this oil seepage is more due to vehicle age rather than mileage.

Hello , i got 2014 CLS with 42,000 is ,miles, yes it could be something with age and but I have one more a theory , when sifting between the driving mode's on speed it send the signal to sensors to adjust camshafts to different position that is when the get a good oil pressure to the sensors and camshaft solenoids , they are the ones that have those sights , I believe it could be solve by adding oil catch cans and pressure regulator or valve vent .

@@jayheritageclub7852 Interesting theory. I usually doo not change drive modes once I get the car moving. Always set mine to S as soon as I start it (mostly to shut off ECO and get the lowered stance). I always had my doubts about changing modes while the car is in motion... now, this would be a great reason to not do it, lol!

How many sensors are there in total on the V8? And what is the camshaft phaser? I’ve heard to replace it there as well?

Where does the knock sensor plug in at? I replaced the camshaft ones but I think oil is in the knock sensor now, too much was in the harness. I have a knock sensor problem now and want to try cleaning the connector

How DIY friendly are these cars? Really considering picking one of these up but it would be nice not to pay Mercedes dealer level maintenance cost.

They are DIY, friendly, but parts prices definitely not

@@jayheritageclub7852 definitely expecting the high parts prices, but it’s nice to hear that you can wrench on these relatively easily.
