Thank you. The dealership wanted a Diagnostic fee$$$$ tokd me it was electrical. I told them never mind. I can use a flashlight to see in my trunk. Trunk lights were out inside. All other lughts worked. This video solved the problem. I'm a female and you explained it very well.❤

thankyou jaime! mine stopped working after i had the cover inside the trunk lid off for a dash cam (rear) install and i thought i'd left something unplugged or damaged some wires... someone had previously repaired the broken brown wire with a butt splice that had failed. i used a wago connector and zip tied the neighbor wires into a loop to stress relieve that connection. i agree, not the best routing of the wires from mercedes, too much movement! i'll call this repair "hapa haole style" ;)

I have a M.B.E-350 Sport Sedan, and my vehicle has just acted up with this problem. I got a warning light that the right and left license plate bulbs were out, I replaced the bulbs and the problem of the trunk release was still not working, the bulbs I took out were not shot, the trunk would not open neither by the release switch or the key fob. I will follow your lead and see if my problem will be resolved by checking them wires...

Mexican style. I spit my coffee out. Yeah I’ve been having troubles with this as well. But not only is it my trunk it’s screwing with my door locks too and my key fob not working. I finally got in the trunk using the hard key. Discovered one inside that’s someone already taken wiring harness a loose...taped that broken brown wire. So someone has been working on this issue for a while. I found a broken white wire but I cannot find the other end. So I am assuming that has to do with my problem. Right now I can’t lock my car because if I do it locks me out every time

DO NOT use duct tape! Use electrical tape only! Duct tape is a conductor and can short out and start fires!
