Strangely enough, the problem this time persisted for weeks, but then - as before, a year ago - just stopped happening again (for rhe last 1,000 or so miles). The one thing I would add is that I checked the wheel speed sensors on my "project GLK", and they didn't show the odd behavior of going to -600kph. I'm thinking that the problem is likely in the ABS / ESP module (which is bolted to the ABS pump / distribution block). If the failure comes back, I may try swapping that out, and bought the bi-directional scanner to code a used module if I do.

Which scanner did you go with? I need something that can scan SRS system on X204.

@@chadwickalexanderjr1758 I bought the Launch X431 Pro S V+ Elite, which allows reprogramming modules.

Hey mark! I’ve been having same problems on my 2004 w203 mercedes, after alot of information searching and checking i desided to change the brushes on abs motor, the black box on the abs unit. Its a really cheap fix, considering the abs unit is over 1000€ new. I changed the brushes and the abs, esp and the bas light is gone, atleast for now.

@@arttunieminen1080it's interesting that so many different things seem to be able to cause the same symptoms. I would guess there are quite a few differences between your vehicle and the x204, but I suppose that a functional issue with the ABS pump and therefore fluid pressure could cause that kind of symptom.

My Glk 350 2010 Aux disappeared while I was using it. Then the all sounds stopped working including the Fm, disk, everything no sound is coming out of my car at all. So I watched this video and I'm able to bring my aux back on but still my car fm or dics is still not sounding. Please do uou have any solution for this please?

Any update? I have one of these at my work with the same exact symptoms.

Nope - it's in remission yet again. I really do think it's probably going to eventually need to have the ABS computer replaced, or at least removed, stripped, and (probably) a cold solder joint fixed. I bought a high-end bidirectional scan tool that will allow me to capture the coding from the old unit and reflash the new one, if necessary (not sure yet).

I had a similar problem occur with a Honda Ridgeline (2010). After much cussing and sleuthing it turned out to be the seal in a wheel bearing which also contains the magnets that run past the wheel speed sensor to give the car the information about how fast each wheel is turning. When the signal is missing all driver assist functions ceased, ABS, traction control, AWD etc. Cure was to replace wheel bearing, the actual wheel speed sensors were fine. Don't know what caused the bearing seal to give up the ghost. Also don't know if Mercedes uses a similar system.

Just checked online some Mercedes and others perhaps Volvo use a magnetic reluctor in the wheel bearing seal to give the sensor a tiny voltage that is interpreted as wheel speed. If the bearing fails, or is lailing this may cause the symtoms I mentioned.

@@richardcalon3724 There are a lot of similarities between Honda and MB. There is a toothed ring on the axle that is "read" by the wheel speed sensor, which reports the wheel speed to those other systems. The distance from the toothed ring to the wheel speed sensor is tiny, so a bad wheel bearing can increase the distance enough that the sensor no longer works correctly. I'm pretty much sure that the problem with my car is not related to the wheel speed sensor(s) though (wish it was). ;-)
