I got my seal kit on eBay for about $10 ... do a search on 'mercedes r129 hydraulic seal kit' or some such thing. There are a bunch of kits available.

How can I get one of these seal kits. I have a 2002 CLK 430 with 60k miles. It's is pristine Accept the top stop working because of the bow. Cylinder. It's so frustrating that they just don't make these seals available. Seems like you're only option is to pay top hydraulics twelve hundred dollars. I already have the cylinder pulled out and cut the notch. Just as you advised and the cylinder's apart. The green seal is in about fifty pieces.

Well here is the problem, someone ordered the seals and the very next day did a chargeback to PayPal and in order to win at the Paypal lottery I had to show tracking numbers which I dont do so I lost the money and a nice black mark from Paypal. I hate to say it but some people ruin it for everyone even if their seals were lost I'd send them new ones but people like to game the system. So I'm mad of course. Hi John, 1. I have an SL500, Year 1999 and i would like to purchase complete seal kit even though only one of the cylinders is leaking. Do you advise to rebuild all cylinders even if they are not leaking yet? or should i just rebuild the leaking one ?. 2. All the seal kits in the market for rebuilding are O rings which is different than the OEM CUP seals. which one do you think is more durable ? and do you advise putting the O rings? 3. the Kits that you supply are they O rings? or Cup seals ? and new ? or used? 4. do you have all the different cup seals for all the 11-12 cylinders for the soft top ? 5. any instruction manuals included? or at least cylinder chart?

For most it is the cup seal and O-ring the cup seal deteriorates and falls apart.

Cost and availability of parts. Buy a new cylinder if you are worried about it. For $10 you could be back in business in less than an hour. I haven't run across any that could not be repaired this way.

Thank you for your swift answer John, great video btw. it made me literally believe that I can do it. I need a set for my 95' Mercedes A124 E320. I noticed a leak on the left side of my car, the oil was leaking down the sill and the roof only hardly and very very slow closed. Last year I had a leak from the rear bow lock cylinder. It was repaired. Now after the other one leaked someone told me I'd better buy all of the hydraulic cylinders or renew all of them. My car has btw. about 167k mils driven. How many seal sets would you suggest me to buy? Do you ship to Poland, how much is the cost for all the necessary seals? cylinder number doesn't matter as long as it is a 9mm rod with a 14.5 mm bore

No I do not sell complete sets but we can rebuild any cylinder the cost is between 65-85 USD and is cylinder specific. Depending on the make and model of the car you will not be able to get the cylinders apart as it requires special tools. This bow lock is one of the easiest that's why I did the video to help people do the ones they can at home.

I bought my 2003 r230 a year ago and I have to fill the reservoir every 3 times I open/close the roof. Mystery is I dont see any hydraulic liquid anywhere! Where should I start?

Fran Dauhajre its hard to see the leak because of the liner and it is a very light oil like mineral oil not .motor oil. use dry hands and touch the area around the cylinder its slightly moisturizing.
