Mercedes LED Mod for DPF Regeneration

When you solder this way, it's called a "cold solder". The both parts should be heated up to almost the same temperature as the tool to achieve a firm seal. However, the rig works. I have made the same on OM651 and OM642 and it works on both. Thanks for the video!

Works perfect on W212 E200 MY2010. OM651.925 Installed and checked actual values of DPF fill level with Xentry. I was checking values occasionally during few days, and when it reached 96% I was excited to get on highway and- there it is! Light was on for 8 minutes, so as soon as I got back from a ride I checked again values and ash content was under 20% So I can state that this mod is perfectly working! I wired it to the fuse from rear window heating and its better that way. Its more safe ;)

This is the Relais of the rear Window heating. The heating is always activated, when the dpf is regenerating. So the LED is also active if you activate the rear Window heating manualy

I installed the diode in the place of the panel that is above the ventilation panel - now it looks like a factory modification (Mercedes GLK 220 CDI 4matic). It was only necessary to pull the cable from the trunk to the car dashboard. At the end, we can check the correctness of assembly by activating the "manual" heating of the rear window - if after pressing the button the diode lights up - everything is fine! OM651.912

Any mercedes with dpf will not auto regenerate if the fuel tank is only at a quarter or lower.

I need to know WHY Mercedes decided to turn rear window heating on when regenerating!?

In order to regenerate the particle filter, you need a higher temperature in the exhaust gas. To do this, you have to put more load on the motor - this is most inconspicuous if you let it produce electricity. But it only produces more when more is consumed. Switching on the windshield heating is less annoying than switching on the air conditioning (the effect would be the same, more stress, more temperature.)

ciao Francesco mi sembra di aver visto questa macchina su un gruppo MB di Facebook.. questo modello di E è il più riuscito stilisticamente..a me piaceva in versione coupè..! io ho una Classe A w176 220D 4matic dovremmo montare lo stesso motore Om651 a quanti km sei arrivato prima di darla via?.. ho visto sul tuo canale che sei passato a BMW.. bel salto rispetto a questa.. spero tu possa darmi + informazioni possibili sul motore della tua vecchia "E"o accorgimenti.. io sono arrivato a 106.000km ad oggi solo tagliandi ogni 25mila km e 1 batteria ! ai 100k fatto il tagliando al cambio automatico! ciao e buona Domenica !

When the car is regenerating its always better to let it finish, if you abort it prematurely there can be various issues that arise mine being fuel dilution with engine oil. mercedes put out a technical bulletin on this issue but did nothing to remedy it so this is a must have mod

I really don't recommend adding any wirring to the car like this as it is not risk free, car might catch fire in hot weather. Also they are ready replacment LED light in the market nowadays for most vehicles.
