The video gave me confidence, but the 2003 C320 w203 is different. All you need is one tool, a T40. Move the seat all the way up and a little forward... if you can! The side shield does not have a screw in it, just a small post, and i broke mine :-( . You must remove the seat belt from the seat so remove the cover over it at the base of seat side cover, then with a T40 for the seatbelt, lift the post off of the back of the seat where this video shows a screw and move it forward. It comes right off. Cut the wire tie that holds the wires to the side of the clip holding the module in place, get to it from the back, remove the cables, the front will only go in one way and mine only 4 plugs in use on the back with the orange being toward the center. The module is held in place by the plastic clips on both sides of the module. See parts 18 and 19 in this image.. www.mbworld.org/forums/attachments/c-class-w203/176119d1266156854-help-seat-adjusters.gif , lift of the back part of the clip and the module comes loose. Remove from the car. Careful not to break these side clips. Remove the side clips from the old unit, there are small tabs at the pivot point, and put them on the new one. They should click into place. Note the the clips have 2 posts for guiding into the seat frame bracket and the module has 2 flat post which also help with placement and retention. Install in reverse order.

A couple of pearls.. 1. Always disconnect your battery terminals before you do shit like this. I don't care if the battery is dead or not. 2. Unplug electrical connectors before u mounting the unit. Its a lot easier to take thT bracket off on the bench than in the car. 3. Don't just chuck your hardware in the floor board. Its a bad habit to develop. Otherwise, good I formative video. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

The seats worked well before removing them in the vehicle and I want to adapt them in other vehicles but I do not know where the positive and the ground are going to be able to make them work. Does the ground get it from the chassis and the positive goes on the pins?

I have a W208 with a non-working power seat. Does absolutely nothing. I don't want to go ripping in to the seat only to find out that there was a fuse or relay I needed to consider first. Any thoughts?

+Jason Moriset power seat fuses are in the trunk under the spare tire cover, and also possibly under the hood if I remember correctly.. check them first and wiggle all the connections to the fuse box in the trunk
@jasonmoriset92929 жыл бұрын
+fupabox I checked all fuses in the trunk and under the hood that pertain to the passenger side power seat control. I just removed the passenger door panel and removed the pictogram control switch from the door . I can't seem to figure out a way to verify if the switch is good so I went further and looked under the seat for any obstructions or electrical issues that were obvious. One thing I did find besides lots of junk under the seat was a single plug with two wires, square in shape with 4 female blade terminals. it had a brown wire and a purple with black stripe wire going into the back of that connector. it wasn't connected to anything. it looks like all connectors that need to be plugged into the power seat control module under the seat are plugged in. I see the seat occupant sensor wire which I believe is the yellow connector and there is a red connector plugged in, which I don't know what it goes to. Is there a way to apply power with, say a 9 volt battery to the wires on the door panel that could make the seat move if it's able to move?
@fupabox9 жыл бұрын
Jason Moriset No unfortunately you can't really test it that way..it's doubtful the switch is bad, as it would have a bad contact in one of the seat movements, but all going bad at the same time is likely a module or power issue.. does the seat go forward when you use the release lever that lets passengers into the back ? the seat should electronically slide forwards when the seatback is unlocked for rear seat access, then move back again when the lever is pulled up and the seat back is pushed back again
@jasonmoriset92929 жыл бұрын
+fupabox no it doesn't move at all. I can kick the seatback forward but the seat base northe headrest move.

@fupabox10 жыл бұрын
the headrest motor is up in the seat backrest... it's wiring goes down to the base module with the rest.. take a multimeter and check for power at the seat fuses when the ignition is on in the last position before start. If no power at the fuse, wrap a jumper wire from a fuse that has power , to the seat fuse...so essentially hook the 2 fuses to each other so that the one with power feeds the fuse for the seats..can't remember if there are 2 or 1 fuse for the seats. If the seats now work then the k40 relay may have an issue.. but check the fuse jumping first
@fupabox7 жыл бұрын
did you check the relay like in this vid kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6uvpYOgp7inm7M&lc=z120ijf5wtu3w1uag04cfnrr1qymyjvguto0k look around the % min mark to see the wiring some mechanic did to bypass the seat relay.. that is the jumper wiring I was referring to trying out
@chuckstogner12227 жыл бұрын
I check for power with ignition turned off and also with turned on all the way, short of starting. Both times zero voltage. Seat adjustment is fuses 21 & 22 (30A) the fuses behind that 19 & 20 are 40 A for the power windows front and rear. I could tap into those. Think I should use at least a 16 gauge due to amperage. even with a couple inches in length. Do you think larger?
@chuckstogner12227 жыл бұрын
I tried to do the fuse jumping, but my fuse block may be different than yours. If you wrap a 16 gauge wire around one of the posts there is not room for the fuse to go in the slot. If you use 18 gauge wouldn't it overheat with the potential for 30 amps?
@fupabox7 жыл бұрын
it is possible it could overheat if used constantly for a long period, but just to test for power it will be fine (18ga)

yes it's possible to get stuck on something that has fallen under the seat ..A gum wrapper or even a penny could jam in the drive gear .. If the seat will raise up maybe you can get under and see whats blocking it . Cutting the wires when there is a connector - bad attitude, youre just like one of those idiots that go to pick n pull to get something they need but destroying everything whats in the way. Really hate when ppl do it. Even if you dont need the part that does not mean it can be destroyed. Someone could have used it. Occupancy sensors fail and replacing them is pain, you could have just kept the whole bottom seat part for sale. Now you can eat it yuorself because noone needs the bottom part with the wires cut off.

Some people should stick to paying others to fix their cars when they break. This putz should not be showing people how to bitch up their cars. He doesn't know how to use basic tools and rapidly resorts to unnecessarily cutting wires in his haste. If you want to learn how to break stuff - watch videos like this. If you want to learn how to fix things, watch a video of a professional who actually knows how to take things apart without destroying them. When he cut the wires, I figured he worked at a junk yard at some point. And sure enough, he admitted to it further down in the comments. Junk yards teach hacks how to rip stuff apart as rapidly as possible. And that's all this hack knows - how to rip stuff apart quickly and break half of what he's working with. FAIL.

What you missed, was that he WAS at a junkyard. So your comments are out of line.
