Got an interesting question for you. you think the rear view mirron on a 95 r129 is able to be swapped with a newer one (post '97) for the purpose of getting the garage door buttons? IIRC, i believe the post '97 mirrors were not electronically adjusted, but manual. As my 95 is electrically adjusted, i fear this may become an issue. I haven't been able to find any information on the topic, yet :-/

The electrically adjusted rear view mirror was supposed to be only available on the early cars,and was phased out by 1991-1992...but I have seen newer cars like yours with the electric mirror ? almost impossible to find parts for it..the dealer has them, but I don't think many people will be able to justify $1000+ for a mirror lol... I'm sure the 1997 + rear mirror would fit, but I'm not sure whether the garage door opener electronics are in the mirror (there is room for it) or whether you would also need other parts to make the garage door opener work

My key will not unlock the cylinder and I don't know why. Actually 2 keys. Anyway I can get this fixed?

Possibly the keys were replaced sometime in the past . Ignition and doors changed , but they didn’t bother with the glovebox ? I would hope a locksmith could open it .

Hey I have 1990 sl500 and the sunglass holder part i think is busted because the arrow button wont pop it open. is there anyway to fix these or do you have to just buy a new one for 500$? lol.

likely the little metal arm on the back of the button has popped out . if you can reconnect it , it will hopefully work . 31 years and theres any number of possibilities as to what someone may have done to it in the past to mess it up .

@@fupabox yeah I think it is missing a coiled spring on the sunglasses holder itself, sadly I have no idea if it can be fixed lol.

farerse if you remove the key cylinder as in this video , you will be able to unlock the arms on the glovebox door

***** actually i found out that i did not have to touch the key cylinder . I removed the plastic plugs inside the glove box and removed the glove box liner, removed light plug, and then have access to the arms. only the left arm is attached to a damper,, the right one comes right out. now i need to figure a way to fix the loose metal tab that closes the door!
