I'd choose a Porsche Panamera over almost anything... But I'd have to take the S63 AMG Coupe in this case... I saw one in person this morning, and as stunning as it looks in pictures, it is one of the most beautiful cars I've laid eyes on in person.

Look at the way the wheels sit absolutely flush in the wells, look how the rim size is just right, look at how proportionately appropriate the car looks when viewed from the front, side and back. You know how people say that a car looks "right". Well, this is a Panamera looking just "right".

They got the flagship Turbo S in this review against the S 63 V8...Let's not forget,this isn't the flagship S coupe,there is a 65 AMG with a V12,which is faster and much more brutal,with a 630 bhp...But then again,Porsche is all about racing pedigree,but that S coupe's technology,interior and the level of details,ride quality and over all blend of sportivity with top notch luxury wins it for me...Who care's if the Panamera is a little faster and agile,whoever buys one of this,buys it for evreyday usage,probably he/she own a 911/or a AMG GTs...So this cars are in a different class/segment

The Panamera is a CLS, not a S coupe.. The S coupe is a much more luxurious, heavier car, and is not at all made for the track, but for the autobahn.

The Turbo S's base price is 10k€ higher than the S63's. I guess that's why you can compare them.

Porsches are overpriced. OP is probably right, Panamera is a CLS equivalent however way to overpriced. For the price that fesch198 has stated there is no way in the world i would was 10k euroes more for the panamera than an s63.

The CLS63 S model starts at just over $100K and has been tested at 3.1 seconds making it much faster than the higher priced Panamera Turbo S. The interior and overall styling is superior on the CLS as well. Don't forget than almost everything with Porsches is an option so that $180K msrp can quickly jump by $40K-$50K optioned out - Not worth it.

Neither are lookers from the outside, really, but the Porsche at least isn't dripping with tacky bodykit bling and is lovely inside. Far better than the Merc with it's cheesy mood lighting and tacky digital readout. Performance wise, obviously it's all about the Porsche.

You'd lose a some track performance, but to make the Porsche a more comfortable daily driver, just go down to a 19 inch wheel with a meatier tire. I'd choose the S-63 MB though.

That's why I love Mercedes the cars more than look their price and do what their designed to do better than any car. The C Class, GLK, GL, R, CLA and ML still kind of look cheaper in my eyes though. To me a lot of other luxury cars like the new BMW's, Audis (except R8) and Lexus LS's, LX's don't look their price. This Porsche looks expensive though but the Mercedes looks wayyy more exclusive and $ and at this price it's critical. The Merc is a no brainer. Mercedes Benz knows their stuff better than any of them because Karl Benz created the automobile. Only if they weren't so hard to work on.

First, let me say that I'd take the S63 in a heartbeat (or the S65 if I was royalty). But it seems like roles are reversed here. Normally coupes are designed to give the sportiest of rides vs sedans. Yes, I know this sedan still is a Porsche sedan, but I still make the point. In either case, you really couldn't lose driving either car. As much as I do love the Panamera design (they are a dime a dozen in my city), it truly looks downright ugly next to the gorgeous Benz coupe. Also, why didn't they test the S63 AMG 4Matic? It's still priced below the Turbo S, but would likely be a better match in acceleration due to the grip.

I think for a top end lux gt, there are only two: the S coupe and bentley Continental gt, both are great and are different. Panamera does not feel like a 911 at all, that's crap. Panamera turbo feels like a BMW M5 sort of thing, in comfort, lux, feeling, weight, etc. If you really want a handling and performance GT car, take a 911 turbo, it's another thing then,

timonxDlol For some reason, the 4WD version of the S Coupe isn't going to be available in the UK, only the RWD version, which probably explains why they've done this. I understand that in the UK it's RWD only, in the US it's 4WD only and in most of Europe they're both options.

Imagine being very proud of your 2015 S550 coupe, park to have a coffee and get out to find the shift in reverse does not engage. I like the 2 door look and interior, but to have your highest end luxury 2 door performance car get beat by a family car is a bit silly. To be honest, the Panamera would look a lot better and more luxurious in black. The Mercedes would still look that little bit better (it's a 3-door) but the difference wouldn't be that big. The light paint makes the Panamera look fatter.

looks should not off set actual facts perceived by legendary hallmarks of quality but Panamera is the more ideal premium sports car. I dare any automaker to match or exceed handling tuning and dynamics of a Porsche or BMW. These are criteria they almost always have set the benchmark for. Merc is up there but not quite exceeding who made and set the benchmark in this criteria.

If I saw the Pana I would want to meet the owner. If I saw this merc, I'd just think the owner is rich. I wouldn't care to meet them. The Panamera is beautiful. Its a one of a kind design. The benz just looks like an expensive benz. Every owns a benz. Driving a flashy car just means you have deep pockets. Doesn't mean you have a sharp eye and good taste. I'd also take an Audi 7 over this benz.
