Oh yes, I remember these R129 convertible tops. The car wizard has done tons of these on his channel.

Yes, but Car Wizard is a professional in every sense . I'm just a content creator. Comparing his work to mine is the difference between Lightning, and a Lightning Bug.

@@FlashDriveFilms oh I know that. A lot of people do not realize just how complex these systems can be. It's one of those things that you likely have to read a book to understand how they work. Much like the Bosch Jettronic fuel injection systems that a lot of European cars were equipped with back in the day.

I’ve been told that the biodegradable wiring harnesses for the SL 600 cars are now unobtainable and as such, they have to be handcrafted. I know of a guy named Cameron from DC MotorWerks in Georgia and I think he usually charges about 8 to 9 grand to overhaul the wiring harnesses on these cars. It’s a very time-consuming job

The biodegradable wiring was a bugbear for all the early to mid-90s Mercedes cars. By the end of '96 the factory had seen the error of their ways and upgraded. So, yes, I would not take a late '92 to '96 R129 of any size, even as a gift , unless it already had the three wiring harnesses replaced.

I recognize the narrator and filming style.. is this a new renamed channel?

Correctamundo. I've been uploading videos for 14 years, I figured it was time for a change.

@@FlashDriveFilms.......Flash Drive Films...that right....I still have my R129..so this caught my eye. You have a great talent in your presentation and demeanor....great to see your content again....I did my top cylinders, pump and control blocks several years ago now during covid....very satisfying project when I got it sorted out....but I shipped them off to TH....didn't have guts to change seals directly :)

Excellent. That is really my best hope for any of my videos: that people can make an informed decision about their car service. If you see how it's done and say "I 'd like to try that!", Great! But it is equally great if they say "I think I'd rather have someone else do this ." So Win/Win.
