Yeah, buying a home is its own kind of adventure. I had never lived in a house before age 59, when my late wife and I bought a house here in Brooklyn NY. Brooklyn used to be where you moved in NYC if you couldn't afford Manhattan, but now it's almost as insanely expensive. My house was built in 1940. We were lucky enough to be able to live in our apartment while this house was being renovated. (My guitar teacher moved into a new house recently, and renovations are going on in the background while we're having our Zoom lessons, which must be a pain for her). I thought your house was new construction until you went upstairs. Is that a tankless water heater you have? We have a gas furnace, stove and water heater. But New York State has banned gas furnaces in new construction, I think beginning in 2026. I have steam heat, because...I'm old fashioned. Plus, it keeps the humidity reasonable. The old apartment had forced air, and it seemed to get cold as soon as it stopped blowing. (Interesting fact--the building my apartment is in was a movie set--the bank building for the 1975 Sidney Lumet film "Dog Day Afternoon"--something I didn't know until after I moved in in 1993) The only thing that looked a little odd to me--was there no sink in the downstairs toilet? BTW, I don't know where this house is (maybe that's by design--you don't want your adoring fans mobbing your home). Your FB page says you're in Maastricht. I wish you and your family all the best!
