I can't even BEGIN to describe how much I loved Mercenaries 1 & 2. The freedom of being able to use any truck, tank, helicopter, etc. was unprecedented at the time, especially with the first Mercenaries game.

This game had more content than the majority of todays AAA titles. I remember feeling immersion for the first time. The weather and lighting effects were on another planet, at least for my ps2. And calling in specific bombs to level an entire city was something I still have not seen since the titles. WE NEED A REMAKE

A little part of me watches this video and wishes that I could go directly back to 2006 and enjoy this game as an 11 year old again. Everything was so easy-and all I REALLY had to think about was; "what video game do I want next?" Crazy to think that time flew this quickly.

Trivia It is possible that Executive Operations is headquartered in Australia. The intro to Playground of Destruction says that the ExOps briefing is being held at the +10 UTC time zone, which would place it in Queensland, Australia any time of the year. This would make the most sense because Pandemic Studios, the creators of the Mercenaries series, had offices in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

I used to land the helicopter on top of a tall buildings, then call in a airstrike and wait at the last minute to fly away. The building would go down right when I'm taking off. This game was amazing!

Oh my god, the nostalgia is real. I played the absolute hell out of this game on the PS2, so many good memories, especially when I discovered the cheat codes. Causing maximum chaos with fuel-air bombs was 10/10

Amazing this was in 2005. A game like this today would be a blast. Add in a first person perspective and it's a hit. I don't care if the story is cheesier than a cheese dip. This looks fun.

I love the fact that each charcter understood different languages. Multiple playthroughs for me over and over. The Russian dialog was hi larous. Edit: On the 360 I get freezing and crashing around the chinese base. Never had a freeze up on the ps2. Doesnt stop me from playing it on the 360 still.

Ah, the good old mid 2000s with my modded Xbox! This was one of the games i had on the hard-disk, and it was awesome! Played it a lot, had lots of content and freedom, loved the bleak atmosphere. I still remember the huge disappointment when the sequel came out, very different tone and not as good as this. The first Mercenaries is the best, and one of those underrated gems from the past that somehow flew under the radar.

This game was so far ahead of it's time it's unbelievable. I checked out this video expecting it to look utterly dreadful on retrospect. Far from it. A similar open world game set in North Korea on modern consoles would be a blockbuster.

Masterpiece!!! The Aces Deck and the reputation with factions was so good for that time! Everything looks great, from the history to the liberty of destruct everypiece of this map and call supplies everywhere! I almost forget, you can call your allies faction soldiers honking with the tank or jeep at her side! ahahahaha Syphon Filter and Mercenaries 1 are my favorites games of that century!

This game is hands down one of my all time favorite games PERIOD. I remember having all the cheats and skins from Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Gosh the memories. I agree with everyone on here please remaster this game

What i love doing in this game is making sure the allied soldier survive in every ace contract. I even drive multiple vehicle to ensure all allied soldier will accompany me toward the objectives, good times.

When I played Ghost Recon Wildlands a few years ago on release I couldn't help but feel like it was familiar. I never knew until just now that Wildlands brought back a feeling of this game and when I played it as a kid. I remember spending hours on this game just running around and having fun - would love if this game came back for a remaster.

If this game was made today, they would remove half of the stuff u can do, and some of the weapons and vehicles would be using as microtransactions. They would remove those building destruction so ppl wouldn't be offended too violence. 😂😂😂😂

ON THE SONG MISSION JUST CALL FOR THE SPORTS CAR INSTEAD OF GETTING IN THE TANK & SPEED RUN RIGHT THRU TO THE CUT SCENE. IT MAY TAKE A FEW TIMES IF YOU ARE A ROOKIE. THEN AFTER THE CUT SCENE, JACK ONE OF THE HELICOPTERS . IMMEDIATELY PULL UP & FRANTICALLY LAND IN SONGS FORTRESS. ITS HAIRY BECAUSE THE AA TRUCK MISSILES WILL TAKE YOU OUT IN SECOND. ONCE INSIDE USE C4 TO BLOW THROUGH THE WALLS ELIMINATING GOING THROUGH FIREFIGHTS AT THE GATES OF EACH WALL. THERE ARE 3 WALLS . THEN THE FINAL SHOOT OUT TO GET SONG & THE MILLION DOLLAR PAYDAY . AT THIS POINT I USUALLY CALL IN THE GUIDED MISSILE TO BLOW THE FRONT GATE. SONG IS ON THE OTHER SIDE AND RARELY KILLED - THOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE OR TWICE....I HAD THIS LAST ACE MISSION DOWN TO A SCIENCE SO IN THE END IT WASNT EVEN A CHALLENGE. FUN GAME THOUGH FOR SURE.... ONE OF MY PERSONAL CHALLENGES WAS TO JACK HELICOPTERS & SEE HOW MANY YOU CAN PARK ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. AFTER 2 AND YOU CLIMB DOWN YOU DIE INSTANTLY BUT IF YOU SAVE, WHEN YOU RESTART, 2 HELICOPTERS ARE WAITING FOR ANOTHER TO BE JACKED & STACKED AND YOU REPEAT THE PROCESS. I HAD 7 OR 8 BEFORE THE THING TOPPLED OVER INTO A HUG EXPLOSION.
