I'm a new pumpman. For two times now,I a had almost 12 LTRs from a single tank during purging but other tanks were empty. How do I strip to stop too much cargo during purging? What causes too much cargo during purging?
@MerchantNavyLifes2 жыл бұрын
I didnt get you properly. But i believe that after stripping there will be some remaining cargo in the tank isnt it?there are two methods. 1. For same cargo group Strip all tanks in to a single tank and first use pump to discharge it to shore and then you can strip the final tank. 2. Individually strip all tanks. // important points are final stage of discharging use minimum rpm by pump. Try to reduce back pressure . Try to maintain optimal trim and list. While stripping also try to use optimal rpm. All matters you can discuss with CO and select the best way.

Captain, can you please just help me with 2 things to understand , 1) you connected the air always to a specifically designated small line which goes to the cofferdam right ? as in the video it looked like the supply of air was connected to the discharge line it wasn't clear for me . 2) also in the end when you are purging , the exhaust trap drain line is closed right , and after you finish purging you open the exhaust trap drain line , and drain out some remaining oil if any ,im i correct ? Thank you wonderful video.

Sorry For the late reply! 1). Yes, you are correct. There is a specific purging air inlet connection for cofferdam purging. Its located on top of the framo pump head. We can easily find it and labeled on diagram as well. First part of relevant video clip ( which is connected to the discharging line ) is for cargo purging and mistakenly added to this video. Extremely sorry for the inconvenience and thank you very much to pointing out it. My bad and will try to blur that part. 2).we can keep close or open the exhaust trap drain line v/v while purging. If drain line v/v is closed, Then exhaust gas will come out from exhaust trap vent line. But Before stop purging time by time we have to open exhaust drain line v/v to drain if there is any liquids. If required, purge the cofferdam in several sequences and drain exhaust trap during each sequences. Once purging is completed, close the exhaust trap drain v/v.

2:55 , 7 bar air-- we should not apply more then 3 bar pressure in cofferdam.

Thanks!! Your point is correct! Onboard we have a common air supply ! Sorry, i had to mention it! We can use any supply which maximum pressure is less than 7bar. As i know, there is a pressure release value inbuilt itself and it is maintaining purging air pressure in between 3-3.5 bar!
