Yes, "Slow Love Slow" Montreux Jazz Festival 2012. Nightwish playing in a jazz festival! But that's the way it goes nowadays. Also at Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, there are bands and artists from many different genres. This is a song you might not recognise to be a Nightwish song.

One of Anette's best songs (IMO). Tuomas wanted a singer that was completely different than Tarja. Yes, she has more of a pop/rock style. There aren't many good live with her. The 2 albums with Anette have some of their most commercially successful material. The video was inspired by the Finnish painting called 'The Wounded Angel' (1903).

Anette is "pop/rock" for sure. But the two albums she sings with Nightwish are amazing. I am one of those who loves all three vocalists equally. They are different and brings their style to the band. With that said Anette did not always do well live. Her songs she did good but sometimes she added a little bit to much differentce in her singing style. And Tarja songs did not suit her very well since she is not one bit operatic. She really struggled sometimes. BUT she did the best she could and I think everyone should give her credit for that. Like her or not has nothing to do with it. She dared to try. And she is a part of Nightwish history just as much as every member that has been and are in Nightwish.

I think most of the Nightwish fans do not recommend Anette live, despite one of the best sold albums of Nightwish is with Anette. Domenica is right, Tarja was the more operatic one, Anette the poppy one and Floor ...... just name it and she'll do it. I think Nightwish got a lot of attention after Tarja was dismissed and Anette brough new hype. The new album was more mainstream and thus sold well. I think many of the live recommendations come from the fact that old songs with Floor singing are only found on the live shows..

It's important to recognise that Tuomas is so good a songwriter, that he actually writes for his vocalist at the time. It is one of the reasons why the two albums Anette sings on are so good, You can hear in the two Floor albums that he has added complexity and range to the vocal lines knowing what a weapon he has with Floor's power, range and versatility. But many of those Anette songs are great because she is a very good singer in that rock/pop range.

All three singers have their own sounds and I like them all, Grew up with Tarja, Annette was different but the songs grew on me and I have songs on my list from all of them but Floor is the only one that makes me cry with her voice, that settles it for me.

Years ago, at first, I thought it was even strange her ton of voice. However along the years Anette has amazed me with so great songs and interpretation throughout the songs. Dark Passion Play (first Nightwish album w Anette) sounds like a battle amongst Love and Anger. Huge orchestra behind and agressive riffs. Then the second Nightwish-Anette came out (IMAGINAERUM) and I fell in love with it at the first listening. It's a conceptual album picturing Childhood and Innocence. And personally my fav NW album!! Slow Love Slow is a jazzy ballad, Scaretale delivers a Witch Anette and The Crow The Owl and The Dove is just an amazing duet between Anette and Marco!! Can't even tell how much I love listening to IMAGINAERUM. Just Nightwish as its finest! 💙💙

I love what Floor does with this song, but my personal opinion that is 100% an Anette song and when I want to listen to it, it is always this version. You may be hard pressed to find any real good quality live stuff during her time with NW

Amaranth is about a Finnish painting the Wounded Angel and it is also a flower. In this video you see the Wounded fallen Angel and the people on the bridge (villagers) are confused, should they kill or save the Angel, because a wounded fallen Angel can also mean the Devil. Walk in the park for Floor. Working the crowd into a frenzy. Most wonderful moments right there: Marko with the biggest of smiles and Tuomas in awe of how the crowd is electrified. Then at the start of the elevated last chorus, there's one of Tuomas' most telling grins of satisfaction and in the final section you can see him headbanging behind the keys like there's no tomorrow. Pure magic. Next year it will be the decade after.. Must be some kind of celebration in honour of that legendary night. They should invite all the well known faces in the crowd (time traveller guy with the hat first and foremost!) and do interviews or something. Cheers from Amsterdam!

Annette is quite different from Tarja, and I believe that’s what Tuomas wanted. Their album at the time, Imaginarium is one of their best selling. Songs like Storytime and Song of Myself come from that album. I take things philosophically. If there was a different singer, would these songs have been written differently? If you look at Tarja and Floor Era original songs, for me, the answer is yes. I really like all of the singers. I do listen a little less to Annette because the poppy sound is not really what I gravitate to. But there are people who prefer her. They just don’t get much of an opportunity to say so. You can probably find a link to a live performance in Gabriel’s list. Always a pleasure to see both of you

Dark Passion Play has some of the most iconic songs (Poet, Wolves, this) but I think it was still more "searching" compared to very consistent Imaginarium. All of their singers have added so much to the group whether it is Tarja, Annette, Floor, or Marco. I love them all. Annette, from what I have heard from her live shows is that she is much better in the studio. The amaranth flower is one of the symbols of immortality and has been used as such a symbol since the time of Ancient Greece. Indeed, the word comes from the Greek amarantos (Αμάρανθος or Αμάραντος), meaning the "one that does not wither," or the never-fading (flower). This was again written by Tuomas (the doubting one with the perfect name). I think the Amaranth is a metaphor for Nightwish. The never fading flower that will live forever. Even without Tarja. The video is a concept from the producer based on the famous Finnish painting by Finnish symbolist painter Hugo Simberg. "The Wounded Angel" was voted Finland's "national painting" in a vote held by the Ateneum art museum in 2006. Anette, live? Slow Love Slow. There is one song in the Nightwish catalog that could perhaps be classified as belonging to the jazz metal genre? For some reason, in 2012 Nightwish performed at the Montreux jazz festival. And they performed, for example, this song there. For this song, Jukka Nevalainen had to learn a different way of playing drums, the jazz way. But luckily he found a teacher nearby, Kai Hahto. Marko plays the bass with his fingers, which he usually never does! And Emppu plays a jazz-type guitar solo! Anette sings in a jazz style. That song is really well done. Hi! I've been a subscriber to your channel since your first Nightwish reaction and have been enjoying all of it, keep it going!! I just want to say, I've already said this on another Nightwish reaction, If I were to use Nightwish's three vocalists as a reference for a fantasy story, Tarja would be a vampire, Annette a witch, and Floor a valkyrie. But that's just me, and all I want to say is that all of them are great in their own way, and all of them have different styles. And you're right, she brings much more of a pop feel (and so her NW albums were more commercially successful than Tarja's). So for me personally... Studio versions with Anette is better imho and I also like Tarjas solo carier more than with NW, but again imho, I don't think either NW or Tarja would have been such a great success without each other... I love The Dark Element. Annete found her ground with this band, all the songs are very catchy and fits Annete voice very well. With Nightwish, I lost interest from Dark Passion Play onwards. I think Floor is an improvement after the Annete era, but I still feel like Floor is a lot of steps behind Tarja. In the other hand, not counting Nightwish, for me, Tarja has the worst "out of Nightwish" albuns. Her solo career, for me, is very week, no album or song managed to grab my attention. I prefer Floor with After Forever than Nightwish, and I really, really like The Dark Element and Annete solo album Shine. So, with Nightwish, for me: 1- Tarja 2- Floor 3- Annete, outside of Nightwish for me is 1- Annete 2- Floor and 3- Tarja.

Why dont try a LIVE-performance with Annette? I know that most Nightwish fans always recommend studio recording but i don't think thats a fair comparison. Anybody sounds great in the studio.

Anette was kind of encouraged on NW, the record company wanted a popular singer for the Imaginarium Tour. She has more of a pop voice and sounds better on studio than live. Her last live show in Australia was quite poor (IMO). Anette is actually a VERY good singer, however IMO she is a terrible match for NW. I think the biggest problem for Anette was going from Tarja to Anette was too big a change for fans and a bit of a sellout, and as Tarja was Finnish, quite good, and loved by home fans, it was a tough sell. And keep in mind that Tuomas wrote songs for the singers..... so those albums with Anette were more "poppy" and less Metal. There were few songs that Anette did VERY well though. Floor can do everything, no one could sing NW entire catalog like Floor, especially with newer stuff, Noise, Yours is an empty Hope, Tribal, a lot of Human Nature album would be impossible. I think when Floor retires, NW is done. I think this worked out well for Floor though, because she was NOT replacing Tarja, she was replacing Anette. To this day, Tarja and Floor are still friends. I think all 3 singers are in a better place now. Without Tarja there would be no NW though.... and there are some songs Tarja does blows away.... overall, Floor has allowed Tuomas to write a very wide range of songs and she can do all the old school Nightwish stuff as well.

*To be fair, Anette has no really relevant live material except "Scaretale". But to say, Floor's "Wacken 2013"-Version would be how it was meant to be is 1. not necessary and 2. not right. Floor's "Wacken 2013" is a complete LIVE-version with a part that is extended, which is not in the studio/album version. "Amaranth" [the studio version) is still Nightwish's commercially most successful single. Don't get me wrong, in most cases I prefer Floor. But there are certain songs, which I prefer to hear with the original vocalist. And there is even a song, "Sleeping Sun", which I like the most in its original 1999 version. There is a re-recorded version from, I think, 2005 with the same vocalist (Tarja), but I don't like it. The arrangement was changed a bit too much. So for me, it's all about the songs. It's not about, shipping a certain vocalist. I really don't know. if Floor's voice can survive it, if she tries to sing also Marco's parts for a longer time period. i can't accept Anette in Nishtwish coz she acting like Britney Spears Nightwish ended for me when Tarja left and started when Floor came

Anette is not that good live.. She sounds Ok on albums, but I just can't listen her live versions.

Anette was a pop - singer, didn't fit for this genre (only my opinion). Nowadays she is trying to keep up in rock music and doing quite well.

I like scaretale but the studio version, I think Annette's a poor singer live.

I like Tarja and Floor but Annette was really bad for Rammstein.,very boring voice. Her pop voice doesn’t fit at all!to the metal. They diminish the volume on the studio recording when Annette is singing and it is annoying. Thankfully she left and did not stay long.
