Went to see Dave & Tim in Manchester, UK with a mate around the same time as this gig and it was the most mesmerising concert I’ve ever been to. When we left, neither of us spoke a word until we’d got in the car and had been driving for about 20 minutes, I think we were stunned. Finally, I asked him, ‘so what did you think?’. There was a long pause and then we both said simultaneously ‘it transcended music’. Unreal performer with exceptional songs and perfectly unique.

This whole concert is on Dave Matthew's youtube channel for free. The whole concert is absolutely worth watching. There are a bunch of emotional songs. The one about his sister is one of my favorites, titled "Sister" as well. Oh, December only 6 months away, Dave Matthews does a Christmas song that is amazing as well titles conveniently “The Christmas Song” Something to keep track if you want to do holiday specific stuff then.

I used to listen to this live album in my work truck back when I was at my lowest. I worked for a landscaper and just drove his truck around mowing and caring for yards. My life was shambles and I was barely hanging on. This album was my sanctuary, my meaning and my life for at least 6 months over that time. This album truly carried me.

Dave Matthews Band is the only artist in my lifetime, until Ren came along, who has spoken to my soul with almost every single piece of music they have ever released. They don’t span across and mix genres nearly as much as Ren, but their sound is a unique mixture of many styles, and Dave’s lyrics, plus the skill and emotion the entire band embodies with their instruments, resonates with me so deeply that back in their heyday, I must have seen them in concert at least a dozen times, and when I was in my late teens/early 20s, I had a nearly life sized poster of him on my wall. 😂 It’s been ages now, but I’m actually planning to take my teenager to see them live either this summer or next summer, as it’s an experience I don’t want her to miss.
@andrewwest83347 ай бұрын
Yep both Ren and Dave have that rare ability to just pull you in and demand your full attention, no matter what they do. Incredible artists.

I recall when this album was first released. I ordered it on Blu-Ray and created an entire evening to watching the concert. I had to stop after this track, which was the opening song, and just pause and cry. The ambiance, the prayer Dave sings, the passion and emotion... this concert and this song so profoundly speak to the human experience of grief and loss and just desperately wanting a little more connection.
@Smitty980122 ай бұрын
Andre, your reaction is so valid. This song is one of my favorites by DMB. When I have others that don't understand why I love DMB so much, I play this. This song always, ALWAYS! moves me in a way that I cannot explain or comprehend, and honestly, I don't want to, I just know when I hear it and it touches me, I am thankful. You either are moved or you or not. You can hear and feel the plea for saving a soul in the lyrics and in how it is sung. Thank you for your genuine reaction to a beautiful song, and as a lover of music of lots of genre's I am thankful that you are experiencing music that brings you joy, sadness, touches your heart, and sparks conversation. Music is a gift, and I am glad that is shared by artists like Dave Matthews.

There are very few musicians/lyricists that actually write and further, qualify as "poets". Dave is certainly one of those among a very short list. Then there are very few musicians that can pull us in as if we were being told a story around a campfire deep in the woods. To finish, there are so very few that play to their words with passion that can move mountains. I'm a session/tour musician and I met Dave years ago in the late 90's in New York. Although it was just a brief encounter, I will always cherish that short moment in time moment with such a talented, kind and sincere giant.
