An edge-of-the-seat episode, superbly played/DMed by everyone; sooo many highlights, just really well done. Given the presence "mine" and "dynamite" in this one, I'm glad that "rocks fall, everybody dies" was just about avoided (and twice, at that)! And happy to see that Turtle is back!

Hi everyone, love all your DnD content! Been watching for a while, seen all of Critical Role, and DM:ed myself for over two years. I also ran this adventure for a group of players new to dnd and you can really tell that your experience playing together and great DMing from Merchant pays off! The setting really came alive in these two episodes, and the characters were great. You guys probably have your own way of knowing each other and I hope this is not a problem in general, but for me Thyrixsyx comes off a bit metagamy sometimes, like the character instantly deduced from DM:s description of the wavering portal and not having any idea of what time it was, that the portal could have some connection with the moon cycle. Also just a personal preference, but for me when playing online, I find that a player silently jamming and lipsyncing to songs they listen to while other characters are having a serious discussion about whether they should blow the portal to prevent similar horrors from happening put me off a little. I mean this with absolutely no disrespect, just a thought.

I’m sure you already sorted it, but Solaris’ Wildfire’s attack does require an attack roll. There’s very few things in 5e that just do auto damage.

I think the Meenlocks have light sensitivity. They should have had disadvantage on all attacks due to daylight right? Great episode BTW. I'm liking this story.

@markj92823 жыл бұрын
Leading to a Meanlock nest, surely tpk? ;) I actually thought you would have end the session if they went through, and the prepared it for next session - were you considering the black ooze? I am looking forward to the next session Merchant. I am however a little puzzled how the group will go from hired mercenaries to a solid group. Especially the Bard (Justin) seems more interested in gold.
@MerchantTV3 жыл бұрын
@@markj9282 Meenlock nests manifest primarily in the material plane when meenlocks venture through - they would have got dumped in the middle of nowhere essentially, and found by a Dryad, who would show them to an Eladrin settlement. It's a session 1 I generally have ideas of for a Feywild campaign, which would be my next homebrew.
@markj92823 жыл бұрын
@@MerchantTV That is true, feywild also haven endless possibilities with the weave acting differently, and more unstable wild-magic. I have a tendency to make all my campaigns going 'all in' on the horror, especially with Rime of the Frostmaiden. Feywild holds both the magical giant mushroom Forrest with displacer beasts, pixies, dryads, etc. and then where my players would eventually end up... the twisted dark forest, swamp, marsh, or like. With hags, meanlocks, and then my take on it, which would prolly be creatures that look a bit like the monster from 'The Ritual'. The feywild is for sure a nice place to run a homebrew. Well I hope for many more sessions Merchant, hopefully the great group will have many more to stream :) - and I still state that it could be fun to the rooms where all of you are sitting - I believe I saw a magic poster at Justin walls, and the ramblings about the ladder is still on-going ;)

@Juggled Lotus this is a miraculous idea Curse of Strahd is my second favorite campaign of merchants to date and the number one was the Ravnica Campaign, Strahd would be a nice reboot even if without Godfrey, may he RIP 😭
@heroofRaven3 жыл бұрын
@Juggled Lotus not at all as a dm who's run it your very wrong strahd is an intriguing part of the story that adds so much to the story. He can be merciless hunter or a tragic individual the party has to put down out of pity it is my favorite campaign to do. And merchant campaign helped get me that love of it.
@heroofRaven3 жыл бұрын
@Juggled Lotus curse of strahd isn't about the world ending, its about the tragedy of lack of self control and the curse that obsession can be. Tatiana trapped and stalked by strahd is the real victim and the horrors the party must face to free her and Sergei from this loop is some of the best moments in d&d. It's better in my opinion then any other world shattering story. Also nothing I said was negging you. Just hoping to show you the depths the story has. And the power a good dm can use such a powerful and tragic charecter to touch the life's of the players. I have made entire parties weep in the quest to free these tragic souls.
