I work for Merck and hear from Mr. Frazier regularly. This was an amazing interview and really inspirational. Ken Frazier is talented, thoughtful and smart in his approach to the current COVID crisis. I was pleasantly surprised to hear him talk about his upbringing; I really believe that in addition to having the right opportunities, it's important to have parents that are committed an united in their child's success.

We will close the gap between whites and blacks. But I fear we will not close the gap between most blacks and the top earning blacks. In other words, not much change, except to give the average person (black or white) more confidence that they will not face bias. And bias will not disappear, it will just shift to a different set of biases. Frankly, even the racist white people I have known, would hire a black person if they were better than a white person at the same salary. It just takes time for the recent crop of black university educated professionals to filter up to the management roles.
