I don't know if it will help, but I'll add some of my Mercury in Scorpio experience. -deep dives of information. Accidentally researching something niche until dawn is not unheard of, especially if I'm on a particular hunt for something hidden. -subjective vs neutral Yes, and yes. I have intense feelings about things and often have already have thought things through in length and therefore get annoyed about other people's advice. But I keep this to myself and keep my outer decisions such as moderation of my community as objective as I can and consult counsel in those more public decisions. -secrets and looking behind what's being said. 100% I'm secretive but honest. I can tell when other people are being sneaky and manipulative but I quietly note their actions instead of confronting them. My defense against these people as least online is "don't let them know that you know" but I do not like lying and I do like exposing certain truths when the time is right.

In my younger years I used to be very hurtful with my words and being fuelled by a Mars in Scorpio didn't necessarily make my words untrue but my sense of defending what is just and right ignited this barrage of incessant and cutting words coming from my mouth. I eventually realised that this was creating too much pain for everyone involved and I decided to own this energy and make it conscious! As a Sagittarius with Mercury in Scorpio, I can definitely say I find myself in deep when it comes to looking into the death of people. It soooo morbid but interests the hell out of me. But the thing is I always wonder what the person was thinking or feeling before they passed. I don’t know… I have heavy Scorpio in my chart including this placement, I think the only thing from this that resonates with me personally (I know this is a general assessment) was not taking people at face value, I would say I do think I see past most façades and if they aren’t honest with me or I feel like they are trying to manipulate the conversation somehow in a negative way or in a way that affects me in a way I don’t like or agree with, then I have a tendency to “hide” parts of who I am and conceal myself to varying degrees depending on the person I’m communicating with…Also like Mercury in Pisces (which my partner has this placement) I have a difficult time verbally communicating/expressing my thoughts & feelings when I do want to express them most of the time and it takes a lot of effort for me to think of the right way to describe things.. mainly because I’m a feeler of information first and many times they are too complex to put into words and I need a lot of time to think it through lol. I wonder if this is a common struggle with all water elements generally speaking particularly in Mercury

An astrologer should always give pros and cons about any placement, every planet in every sign has its purpose. If an astrologer can't bring this out and provide a constructive, balanced interpretation they are biased. We all have places in our chart where we are biased.

I've come back to this video after having a falling out with someone who I believe had some kind of covert/overt narcissism. They had all of the signs, and like any narcissist, refused to see them. Nobody questioned their behavior - nobody even chose to acknowledge or call them out on their wrongdoings. If I didn't have these sometimes negative intellectual-based traits, I would have continued to endure the abuse of a narcissistic friend without digging into their psyche of who they are.

I think we need to add that these experiences (secret things, independent thinking, intensity, etc) are situations that will be thrust upon Mercury in Scorpio. It’s not just that “you are Scorpionic and therefore you seek them”, it’s also that you attract such things and have to respond in that very Scorpio way. The response is innate but seeking those situations can be circumstantial. I suppose it’s not within the scope of these series but it’s worth mentioning that every placement will be informed by strong factors such as conjunctions. I have my Mercury sandwiched between Moon and Neptune in a tight stellium and of course that makes for a multifaceted Mercury which clearly surpasses the boundaries of Scorpio. Every sign and placement has a lower and higher evolution. No sign or placement is inherently “bad”! This is such bunk. And out-stemming from Vedic philosophy (which has its downfalls as well as it’s good!). But if a beginner astrologer or someone with this placement was watching this video, it may very well turn them off completely and also erode their self-esteem and think that they are damaged in some way. If you are reading this and you watched this video having this placement, know that there is no “bad” placement ever in astrology. Yes, we can look at the shadow of each placement and from there learn to grow. But here there was no indication about how to grow into the highest expression of this placement. That’s is the danger of pop astrology and of Vedic astrology. It is not a roll of the dice or a lottery. We have our charts for evolving our souls. We choose the chart we have when we are on the other side in order to learn as much as we can and to evolve our souls and our karma in order to eventually reach oneness. When Scorpio placements evolve, they become the shaman, the phoenix, the one who can rise above any hurdle in life and they can have the deepest compassion for others because they are the ones who will have the least judgement about the paths and choices of other because they realize, more than perhaps inherently then other signs, that we all can use the shadow work to grow and become our highest expression.

This was interesting. I have mercury scorpio 12th house using whole house, or 10th house in placidus. I must be the exception to the rule. Maybe other placements in my chart cancel or balance out what sounds like a lot of negative traits associated with mercury in Scorpio. I personally love this placement and don't experience a lot of the negativity described here. No excessive activities. No scandals. Not overly secretive or overly blunt. I did relate with the very beginning about independent thinking. But I tend to struggle about wanting to believe what people say because I assume everyone is like me, means what they say and say what they mean. After being hurt a lot by that I'm finally embracing that intuitive side to me that can see right through people's bs. I've been able to accurately call out people's intentions lately, saving me huge disappointment by being too naive and getting too involved too soon.

Well, on the subject of over spending I am a Mercury in Scorpio; that is not me. I keep such a close eye on my monies I am over careful about how and what I spend. I have a definite habit of paying myself a $1 a day. It does not say you are lying but each of us is different. I always had this habit and I never over spent in my entire life; I am the type with a charge card that only buys what they can pay right now; never later.

They are not negative traits, only from the perspective of Mercury.
