At the time “Deserter’s Songs” was recorded, Mercury Rev believed it would be their last album and would recede into quiet thereafter, hence the lyric “And I know it ain’t gonna last”. Fortunately, “Deserter’s Songs” was a critical and commercial success and the band continued and made more great albums.

As the internet is a global community i won't call you dumb, gotta assume english is second language most the time so can't expect all people to know the (often subtle) difference HOWEVER if english is your first language and you don't know the difference between 'cue' and 'queue"... please just look it up and don't be a dumb-arse forever. sorry but that was such an error it had to be called (no dispute or care about content of post)

What a beautyfull song!!
@fracturedempiricist7 жыл бұрын
The video is a visual allegory of the lyrics. If you don't get it I guess you could think it a bad video, but given that it's not particularly subtle (authority smashes your liberties and hands you a flag) I'm not sure that's an acceptable excuse. The goddess in question is Liberty, who in the 90s was indeed going faster than she's ever gone before, and just look at us now. Mercury Rev were right, it didn't last.
