Joseph Branch -- the left had nothing to do with his despair , he had been working for the airline as a mechanic being paid minimum wage , that is the result of the right , he apparently was a very talented individual , but had figured out that in Ronald Reagan's republican world even as a airline mechanic the best he could hope for financially in this life would be just enough money to pay rent on a tiny piece of shit apartment and enough food so he could keep going to work making the rich richer , that's what happens to people that can see how the cards have been stacked against them

Probably one of the most heartbreaking recordings I've ever heard. He honestly sounds like such a nice guy, and his realization of how this was going to end is emotionally devastating to listen to. Whether it was the result of drugs, mental illness or simply a sudden stress-related emotional collapse, this is someone who should never have had such an untimely death. Normally, I have little time for such public forms of suicide, but I can't get past the fact that, in the 10 minutes of listening to him, I kept wishing it could have somehow ended differently. RIP Richard. My sincere sympathies to your loved ones. A life cut too short.

Quite possibly the most distressing aeronautical radio I have heard in my 30 years as a professional pilot. This poor guy needed help, he didn't want to hurt anyone else. The controllers and pilots who were involved in this will be affected for a very long time. An aircraft can be replaced, at the end of the day it's only a piece of metal, but someone ended their life today. It's a shame that people close to him didn't, or wern't able to say some simple words......."are you ok". To the puerile, immature comment makers below, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Grow up!

Ozgrade3 Australia Agreed, this was really unnerving. ATC handled him the best they could, though. I was impressed with how calmly they handled him while speaking to him. There are small elements of humor that Rich seemed to incorporate into the situation, which only humanizes him more. One thing that did puzzle me was when he mentioned the pressurization of the plane and that he felt light headed: Could hypoxia have begun to affect his judgement when flying at that low of an altitude?

I totally agree. It’s distressing to listen to. I feel so sorry for him, and his family. I also think he was a clever guy, to of started, and lifted a Dash 8 Q400 into the air. He sounded a pleasant and decent guy, didn’t want to hurt anyone. Or upset anyone’s day. I wish he’d of landed safely. Thoughts to ATC for been kind, and patient, and professional.

It makes you wonder what led him to do this? He seemed to have been to great places, had great family... I'm in the hardest year of my 31 years on earth... Covid, my best friend, my father died this year from 4 year battle with cancer, watched him deteriorate from my hero, to weak, old man in pain, who couldn't remember me, watched me cry staring at him, and tried to think about it, I think he knew I was crying cause I knew he would die, he looked sad, I love you dad... He died from going into 9-11 to try, and save people, volunteered for 2 weeks I didn't see him cutting steel, and digging... found a firefighter, cried hysterical while hundreds clapped for him... he's a hero... he told me he had to go in when I asked "why dad?" he said cause many people won't go to help, and I have to help our city.... Now after his death (didn't live to see covid) NYC is a ghost town, and riots everywhere burning it down... these people are disgusting to me. I also lost 2 other best friends, my babies essentially.... my pets... been laid off for months, got stitches from injuries twice... have had a bad drinking problem that I'm working on... My girls father passed away recently.... had a huge blow out with 2 of my best friends, haven't been the same with 1, and barely talk to the other.. I mean what else....? Ummm... riots everywhere in the country, fear, terror everywhere... witnessing first hand in NYC.... having to take care of my mother, and brothers who are lost as well from losing my father... It's just by far the worst year of my life... couldn't even go to the movies all year lol... it's hard to cope... but I'll never give up... if I had no one that loved me... Idk... but thinking about hurting those who love me, I could never. I mean I just wonder what this guy was going through cause he seemed really cool, and didn't seem lost... maybe it was from being high from cabin pressure plus euphoric feeling of his inevitable soon to be death? Maybe he took some drugs as well... He seems happy in most photos... Which I know the most depressed people can usually seem the happiest... but man, I wonder what made him snap... he even says "I guess I'm a broken guy, didn't know I til now" or w.e he says... You can hear sympathy from him thinking about his loved ones... What was so hard for him to give up? Was he really smart with massive potential, and wanted to be alive for an hour rather living like a loser for decades? I pray for him, and his family.. I wish I was on the other end of the radio, I'd try to talk sense into him, make him feel like he's special, smart, and cool guy, which he seemed to be... I would ask/beg him not to take his life, even in risk of my job... God bless Sky King. If you interested in checking out my channel I started for my dad... (he always wanted to make "one of those youtube things" he thought I would be great at making videos, and talking about things I love)... and showing support I would really appreciate it, it would make my day... cheers, and god bless everyone, and anyone who took time to read this, it means a lot, and I hope you, and your family stay safe/happy/healthy in these hard times... Cheers.

I would have never thought she would do that in real life. She was 22. She had a 2 yr old son who was sleeping in his crib. She was hanging in her front yard when i got there. She was smiling. It devistated me forever and made my life nothing but grief for years and years and i am even crying now. Some people are here for a short time and its like boom they are just gone. +Daniel Agramonte I get your sentiment and agree that the ATC was professional and good. But "heroic"? I assume you're american because american media always tells the american people what to label people. I'm glad i, like many Germans learned english from 4th grade on and then started to watch american mainstream media. If i hadn't done that i would still believe "America has the 1st amandment and is the best democracy in the world". Luckily i learned better. Before some pro-Trump and anti-Trump Americans respond to this, let me say: I found Fox News and the likes online to be pure Propaganda during the Obama Administration. I still believe Fox News is Propaganda but since the 2016 election american MSM like "CNN" turned into the same kind of joke that is Fox News, just for the other side. Back to the topic of calling people "heroes" in the USA: The US Media doesn't call people hero because that's what they genuinely believe. No. They do that to help their own Agenda, whether it's Fox News calling absolutely every american veteran "a hero" or CNN calling every british or french police first responder "a hero" when there was another terror attack with countless of dead people. What they do is such an old method, i found it described in journalism speeches on journalism conventions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Those speeches started already in 1857, and it still works obviously. Are first responders brave and great people that deserve respect? Yes. Hyping first responders up and barely focusing on the terrorist nor the victims of the terrorist attack, because you as a media organisation don't want your viewers to start feeling angry about islamic extremists because you fear this will also affect integrated and lawful muslims? N O T O K CNN just did this again the past 2 days regarding the terror attack in London. I counted how often CNN told the viewers how awesome and heroic and fast the London Police Force is since the attack hit "Breaking News" until now. The count is at 83 times. How often did they mention the victims? The count for that is at 21 times. Go figure

Chartreux first of all thanks for your time to respond. Now I totally get what you're saying and where you're coming from, but I would disagree somewhat. What this mechanic did was highly illegal and could have easily resulted in the deaths of many people. I haven't been in this situation, but I can only imagine how stressful it must've been. But the air traffic controllers kept their cool. They didn't threaten him, berate him or anything. They were just focused on making sure him and no one else died and that he would be able to land the plane safely, nothing else. Doing this under so much pressure is not an easy thing, and I bet many people couldn't do it, but these folks made it look easy. For that I call them heros.
@chartreux1532
@chartreux1532 6 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Agramonte We agree then, the ATC were professional and remained relaxed. I'm just a bit careful with labeling everyone doing their job in a fantastic way a "hero". And to be honest, i'm rather frustrated by american media and how often they use "hero" which makes the word lose it's meaning. I'd also never claim i could have been as good as the ATC, as i said it was a great job and he remained relaxed and calm. My problem lies with the US media, who once again focus 99% on the person doing their job (the ATC) without focusing on the victim. It's just frustrating to me since a while. A recent example would be the US Media worshipping that woman who died in Charlottesville, they focused on her death in August 2017 several times each hour from last Thursday to last Wednesday. At the same time the same US media only covered the 87 deaths committed by an islamic terrorist in Nice, France for 2 days after it happened. They also only ONCE mentioned and showed the names an d pictures of the 87 victims. During the anniversary of this terrorist attack that killed 87 people, including over 10 children, these US media channels and papers (CNN, MSNBC, NYT, Washington Post) didn't even mention it once nor did a show about it. But about Charlottesville where one woman died they did hourly coverage of it for over a week one year after it happened. Why do they do that? Because unlike the horrible Nice Terror Attack, American Media can use the death of Heather Heyer to attack US President Donald Trump, which proves that US Media is now 100% about activism and emotions and not about facts anymore, which is upsetting. These same American Media Outlets on TV, Internet and Newspapers often use the "X are heroes" to make watchers/readers focus less on the victims and i find that disgusting

Maybe that's why antidepressants and anxiety medication is abused so heavily in the US. It's abused so much now they want to raise the scheduling on it and place it equal to opioids. I think it's because Americans just want something that makes them feel normal again and for once relaxed and not sad. People say think happy thoughts but how many happy thoughts can you really think when you did everything you were told to do as a kid and nothing came from it. You followed the rules and played the game the right way but still ended up broke living pay check to pay check stressing about bills, family, and one accident away from the streets.

nick castellani I have a simulator. I know how much it costs etc. I laughed because ANYONE knowing this wasn't the real coNvo? Taking Gs in like a pro. It was a joke. Kind of like anyone believing this is the real story. Hahaha they cut out, "Yeaah Rigght, {[I'm white]}" .. So why'd they cut that out?

nick castellani a) there are some video games that are HELLA real and very close, BUT not a simulator that was $12,900. Him saying I've played some games before is what I thought was funny in a sad situation.. He had more Hrs in a flight simulator or real plane than anyone is reporting on, which leads me to beLIEve the MSM have duped us again.
